question about bases for runewords for my act 2 merc

i'm playing a blizzard sorc with

Meteor for cold immunes, atm lvl 68 and in the first act of hell.

Prayer merc keeps dying. he has Insight

Poleaxe and i want to give him Treachery armor and Cure

Helm. hopefully this will keep him alive at least for act 1 and maybe 2.
my current best bases for the 2 runewords are:

Light Plate with 99 def
-

Great Helm with 30 def

should i create the items with these bases or wait until i get smth better? i have all the runes but only to make the runeword once atm and i dont want to waste them.

i farmed cow lvl nightmare the last two days but no luck. i dont rly want to go on in hell without my merc. even if it is possible with much kiting and

Mana Potion overdosing ^^ i hate this playstyle since i have Insight. where could i farm better bases early in hell maybe without my merc if it has to be? or is it possible to get better drops in nightmare cow lvl?

Hi! Continue with Cows on Nightmare but lose the MF you currently have to get proper bases. I used a

Ornate Plate for the Treachery with 420def and exactly the same, Cure and

Prayer Act II slave with Insight in a

Thresher and my boy pretty much never dies (he's not doing many kills either).

PS: You're on non-ladder, right? If not and you're on SCL I can get you a

Dusk Shroud, no

Charge.

I'm going to assume you are playing ladder. If you aren't you cannot make Cure. Cure is ladder only at the moment.

Treachery is a really solid runeword for the cost. Personally I would farm nm cows for a better base.

Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest is a decent budget

Helm for the merc. The 10% life steal helps.

Defense, life steal and faster hit recovery are the 3 best stats to have on your merc. The higher these stats are the more tanky he will be.
The IAS from Treachery is very nice as well. Attack faster = more life leech procs.
