Description

This discipline allows an Assassin to project an even more powerful shadow avatar. The
Shadow Master
has access to all of the Assassin skills, also skills you don't have yet.

Casting Delay: 0.6 seconds

The
Shadow Master
has Resistances when compared to the
Shadow Warrior
. Most players choose the
Shadow Master
for play past level 30 although the
Shadow Warrior
offers more control over which skills and spells she casts.

Shadow Masters have a base strength and dexterity equal to their level * 10. The skills a
Shadow Master
casts have the skill-level equal to half her skill-level +1.

You can either have a
Shadow Master
or a
Shadow Warrior
.

Resistances of the
Shadow Master
do not suffer from the penalties in Nightmare and Hell difficulty. Furthermore, they are not capped at 75%. Hence, it's possible to get the
Shadow Master
immune against elemental attacks.

The Skills a
Shadow Master
uses are:
Cloak of Shadows
(rarely), Mindblast,
Fade
,
Burst of Speed
,
Death Sentry
[some Martial Arts and other traps]

Unlocking The Shadow's Potential - A "hidden" buff in 2.4 that may surprise you...

You can pre-buff Shadow Master. Shadow Master will keep the bonuses at the time of the cast, even if you change equipment.

This is applicable to version 2.4 and later.

When the
Shadow Master
uses skills, its skill level is 1/3 of the level of
Shadow Master
, plus 1/2 of the players skill level in that skill, rounded down with a minimum of 1. This includes "soft points", and also applies to synergies, which also benefit from soft points.

Let's look at an example where only 1 point is spent on every skill in the martial Arts tree, and using +10 all skills from gear.
With
Shadow Master
at level 30 (20+10), and
Phoenix Strike
at level 11 (1+10), the summon will use a level 15
Phoenix Strike
.
[30 / 3] + [11 / 2] = 15

However, it would also have synergies to
Phoenix Strike
equal to level 15, since it follows the same equation. Of note is that if the synergies are effectively above level 20 using this equation, it will still apply a synergy bonus for each level. This is unlike how it works for player characters, where most synergy bonuses are capped at 20 due to using hard points. (A few exceptions to this exist like
Prayer
and
Lycanthropy
)
