Can be used to make Runewords:
Energy Shield and Thunder Storm? You want either 4 sockets for Memory or 5 sockets for Call To Arms with those staff mods to make a good pre-buff staff.
With 6 sockets you need to make Obsession and that is expensive and not the best option. I don't think it has much value.
Obsession is usually used on a staff with +3 to your main attack spell and +1-3 to the corresponding mastery and with RotW maybe also for the warlock but then the skills don't matter.
