Nightsmoke is a Belt useful to characters with mana shortage (so, especially in the early game) while also in the thick of battle. Sorceresses may not be the best fit here, as they should normally not be positioned to take damage.
"Damage taken goes to mana" is sometimes misunderstood. It does not absorb or convert damage in any way. You will take damage as usual and a percentage of this damage will be added as mana.
