Why i can't up my crown shield?

Hi, i'm a newbie trying to up my shield, but it doesn't work, if somebody could help me with info could be nice

i dont think you can up a socketed item, only unique or rare .

That is correct, with normal items you can only upgrade cracked/damaged etc. to a normal version. However this may reset things like the all res on this shield (I upped a sacred target yesterday and it changed the all res to ed instead).

Only Rares and Uniques can be upgraded to the next level. Superior/normal/socketed/set items do not work.
