Uber Ancients builds (post 3.3)

i currently am leveling a smiter to take on the uber ancients guys. planned gear. Helm Gface, Armor COH, Grief, Upped HOZ with Pdiamond, I have a 3 combat ammy with 23 dmg reduction but will swap for maras, Draculs, Tgods, Goblin Toe, Right now Gface socket is empty what should i put in there new uber jewel for physical damage or should i go Cham for can't frozen and drop my Raven Frost. or should i go really rich and Lo or Ber it for the deadly strike or the crushing blow or play it safe for the all res and put a Um in there? Right now just level 70 and still leveling but wanted a good idea on the viability gear options.

Lo / Ber in helmet provide defense bonuses not offensive ones.

Jewel/ Um is the right way to go.

Guys, I'm theorycrafting my first ever smiter for the new ubers (ond occasionally the old ones). As stupod as and easy as possible, no river of flames prebuffing, just plug and play.

Will that work, will it be easy?

on swap: Spirit & Call To Arms
vs old ubers: replace Guardian Angel with Chains of Honor

merc not sure.. would prefer to keep the barb, maybe get him another Guardian Angel, Kira's Guardian, and double Grief?

summon them, cast Slow Missiles, switch RMB to Salvation, hit them with Smite on LMB till they drop to 10%, switch LMB to Zeal and finish with Zeal, repeat. That's it?

Will probably work, but there is room for improvement.

Belt and shield are quite bad and should be replaced (see above).

Holy Shield and its synergy Defiance should be maxed.

Zeal and Sacrifice are not needed. Wyh would you switch to Zeal? Your attack rating would be too bad.

just keep smashing them with Smite? I thought you finish quicker with Grief / Zeal?

Sanctuary provides huge all res boost, and Slow Missiles are a huge PDR boost. is Exile so much better? ~60 res missing on Sanctuary could be provided by charms

Nah, you keep in smiting. Always hits, can't be interrupted. Grief also provides +400 damage on Smite.

Use spare points in Resist Lightning/fire for the passive buff that increases your max res.

nice! two less actions, I'm loving it

Herald Of Zakarum provides ~30 less res than Sanctuary, but my brain cell will probably manage to put two all res grand charms out of shared stash into pally's stash before the fight (and then put them back after the fight)

one last question though: the pally is currently 88 after his brief but fiery confessor career, is it enough or should I pump him up a couple more levels?

well it failed, miserably. not sure whether more due to lack of skill or to wrong gear, but the hopes for an easy smiter are shattered

the main problem was, they started spawning too many minions, and unlike Lightning Strike zon, pally can't just delete them

karel recommends Last Wish, Kira's Guardian, and Fanaticism.. not sure

you don´t get to max speed without fanatacism with that gear. Is the HoZ upped? This might help with the remaining hp when cb stops doing much.
Besides that i have pretty much the same setup but i use fana, never had any issues.

e: I also use Treachery to prebuff, maybe the additional dmg reduction makes a big difference, I just totally ignore the small guys.

String of Ears is bad for fighting the Uber Ancients. Life leech does not work with Smite and the Uber Ancients do predominantly elemental damage, so the physical damage reduction is also lost.

Use Tgods. Use Exile. Only use Fanaticism if you can keep up 295 res without Salvation. Otherwise: Salvation.

Don't kill the minions, just ignore them. They might tickle your toes, nothing else.

If you don't want to fight all three Uber Ancients together, use Charge to separate them. Then you just Smite them done one after the other.

Life Tab will heal you quickly, as long as you are hitting. No potions needed.

For the fastest attack speed breakpoint for Smite use a PB Grief with 35+ ias, a 15 ias jewel and a 20 ias amulet (Highlord's is ok but deadly strike is not working. I prefer The Cat's Eye).

Talic's Whirlwind deals massive physical damage.

Just the Whirlwind. There are other sources of physical damage, but that one in particular hits hard.

i felt physical dmg was a bigger problem. with 95 res, and 30 mdr any elemental dmg should have been reduced to 100-200 range theoretically..
if i use Exile and Defiance, how significantly will the hit chance be reduced?

but maybe it's just me not hitting properly. when you fight them, do you just point and press LMB or is there some trick?

but anyways I'm a little disappointed by pally after so many runes burned. will try the Lightning Strike java again with Thunderstroke and Spirit instead of Infinity. net dps loss after -res, partially offset by higher attack speed and higher slvl, should be roughly 40% vs Korlic and Talic and 20% vs Madawc. let's see if the defensive bonuses from Spirit can outweigh this and finally give me an "easy" way to spend those bloody statues (well Fade prebuffing is inevitable for java)

same here, but spent more runes for Last Wish, Exile and Chains of Honor. Still got own by ancients uber -_-

Mainly charms with resistance+life. I use the same gear for summit and Uber Tristram so my goal was to have 95 all res even after Meph's Conviction. So its something around 320 Cold, fire and light. Poison is a little less.

Max Holy Shield with Fanaticism. You have always Life Tap, you swing with your shield like a crazy bird trying to fly away from a cat and you have 80%CB. Just keep smashing with shield and you are immortal. You saw me also in Uber Tristram in the middle of all 3 ubers taking all damage without some bigger life spikes. The same with summit.

need to take full reju pots, at least until Life Tap activates, once its on you can kill some of the minions, with Grief it takes like 3 segs
