he will drop all the loot, including the sunder charm, tested
he will survive if you kill the final guardian though, you have to pop the seal
and the Herald won't stop diablo from spawning, no worries
Can you explain this a bit more? Is this some kind of cheat code for sunder farming?justinman114 wrote: 18 hours agoGood stuff, I've been seal popping and the Herald spawns AFTER the final pop, and sometimes I have to go find him. This seems much better lmao
Seal popping Chaos Sanctuary is an old school trick to pop tons of mobs at once. As you may know, when you pop the last seal, every monster in CS dies. The problem is, they also despawn after about 6-8 seconds after you are too far away. So, we pop 4 seals, kill the 3 bosses, then Teleport back to start, and up through Chaos again to respawn everything, then quickly pop the last seal. Check drops after for goodies. These kills will not be affected by magic find, however. Good for rune farming.Rhaegar86 wrote: 17 hours agoCan you explain this a bit more? Good lord. I have been playing this game for 25+ years am I am just now hearing about this trick loljustinman114 wrote: 16 hours agoSeal popping Chaos Sanctuary is an old school trick to pop tons of mobs at once. Anyways, when I do this, the massive amount of zone clear at once usually spawns a Herald (while diablo is spawning) somewhere on the map.
OP's method sounds better. Spawn the Herald naturally by killing monsters, then pop the last seal to kill the Herald.
doesn't apply to heralds!
everything requires code I guess. No idea what are the numbers behind it, but they drop magic items every time, and I got one sunder this wayTeleTabitha wrote: 15 hours agoSo all normal mobs are killed with 0mf, and heralds are killed with a different mf? Whose MF? Yours or the Merc's? I wonder why they would special case this, I suppose that required code?
You can gey magic and unique items with zero magic find, it's just more rare. It's also possible heralds might have a unique drop table that drops magic stuff more? Not sure on the latter. Would be interesting if they are still affected by MF when seal popping.ganseng wrote: 14 hours agoeverything requires code I guess. Hmm, this contradicts what OP was saying. I wonder if the seal pop didn't do enough damage?!? That seems silly though. Maybe you were so far away that the Herald temporarily despawned, just like normal enemies do? I'm not sure!
He was just down from the pentagram, not far enough to despawn. There was a couple of minutes between him spawning and Diablo spawning. I'd started attacking the Herald but there was only a few minutes left on the TZ and he was particularly tough so I went for Diablo instead, kinda having the feeling the Herald wouldn't get popped. I was right. I finished him off afterwards.
Interesting. I wonder if anyone has any info on this.Meat5000 wrote: 11 hours agoHe was just down from the pentagram, not far enough to despawn. Maybe this is the reason:justinman114 wrote: 10 hours agoInteresting. I would expect heralds to have boss-like loot tables that more or less guarantee one or two blue items, and that MF mostly affects the chance to get uniques/rares over blue. This is how I understand bosses work (and maybe superuniques / uniques too, I haven't considered whether these sometimes drop only White items).justinman114 wrote: 14 hours agoYou can gey magic and unique items with zero magic find, it's just more rare. Spawning the last seal boss, then popping the last seal (in one of the two wings with two seals): Herald dies and Diablo spawns
Popping all other seals, then popping the final one that spawns the last seal boss: Herald survives after killing the seal boss, and Diablo spawns
Correct? Though it is still a bit strange to have different mechanics for these two cases!
