How can you calculate if possible what causes more damage
A cold facet with 5 to cold skill
Or a jewe with 14 to maximum damage

Can be used to make Runewords:

stay a while and listen to the corpses explode
If youre using cold skills the facet will be more damage. If not then it wont.
What build is this for that does cold and melee physical damage? Holy Freeze?

Where is the information that stats thisLemzodistber wrote: 19 hours agoIf youre using cold skills the facet will be more damage. If not then it wont.

Iām curious if one does more damage overall than the otherkerph wrote: 19 hours agoWhat build is this for that does cold and melee physical damage? Holy Freeze?
Is the jewel ONLY melee damage?

"Minimum" and "maximum" damage affixes refer only to weapon damage yesrichhtx wrote: 18 hours agoIām curious if one does more damage overall than the other

A cold facet will increase your cold dmg by the stated 5% as additional cold dmg, summing with other sources of %cold.
So say you're using a cold skill that does 100 dmg, you have 20% +cold dmg from other gear, you now add that 5% facet, you end up with 100 dmg * (100% + 20% + 5%) = 125 dmg (before resistances).
A cold facet's % dmg generally works for both, weapon and non-weapon skills but only ever increases cold damage. It will not for example take your e.g. 100 physical weapon dmg and turn that into 100 physical + 5 cold. It'll just not do anything there.
The 24-38 cold dmg on your facet on the other hand generally gets added to weapon attacks but doesn't do anything for your non-weapon skills like say Frost Nova.
A max dmg jewel is the physical version of that, increasing your physical base dmg by the stated 14 which is then multiplied out by your physical %dmg multipliers.
It will not add any damage to cold skills though.
So yeah, if you're say a cold sorc and looking to improve your blizzard or orb or whatever, a cold facet's %cold will up your damage there but a max dmg jewel won't do anything.
If instead you're say a pally and looking to improve your Zeal dmg then a max dmg jewel would help you while a cold facet would generally do precious little as it doesn't multiply the physical dmg in any way.
Do note that the physical gain from a max dmg jewel doesn't affect all physical dmg abilities/sources but is generally limited to weapon-based attacks. E.g. it'll help Zeal but it won't help War Cry or Smite.

So if I put a protectors Stone in a Helm for a necro that does enhanced damage
Does his damage from Corpse Explosion or skeletons increase or no?

the minus physical resistance should affect only the physical portion of the Corpse Explosion damage. The "% enhanced damage" and the "adds damage" would do absolutely nothing for you in that caserichhtx wrote: 1 hour agoSo if I put a protectors Stone in a Helm for a necro that does enhanced damage

So would the guardians light Stone do him benefit since it enhanced magic damage and -monster damage res?

If you're a Bone Necro then yes, Guardian's Light affects all the the spells in the Bone tree that say "magic damage" (specifically Teeth, Bone Spear, and Bone Spirit), but it DOESN'T affect Corpse Explosion, since that one is half physical and half firerichhtx wrote: 1 hour agochoma90 wrote: 1 hour agothe minus physical resistance should affect only the physical portion of the Corpse Explosion damage. Would max damage jewels not increase ce and skeletal damage?

no
just direct attack skills... (that deal physical damage)
For necromancer... only Poison Dagger...
