what are some good builds and what is he good for? eg. mfing

Warlock has a lot of nice builds. Chaos-Fire, Abyss/miasma chains, eldrich tree (I know little about), fire-demon focusing on Tainted, Bind Demon focus using defilers, Blood Boil build. Lots of options. Check out Maxroll builds to get some ideas.

hc or sc?

I've never played HC, but if I did, I would go Demon tree. Max Bind Demon + max Demonic Mastery + max Blood Oath gives you a very tanky demon. My dark lancer, perhaps the "squishiest" of the preferred demons, just face tanked Diablo Clone without losing a sliver of health. I just Death Mark 'd her to the other side of DC so he was facing away from me and never grabbed any attention whatsoever.

If you want supreme survivalbility, I would bind a unque pack leader Urdar from River of Flame, preferably with Stone Skin, Cursed and Lighning enchanted affixed (but really, any Cursed one works). They have a large hit box and get " Teleport trapped" when you Teleport and can't move till you do or you Death Mark them--this can be annoying but also taken advantage of in HC b/c missiles hit him instead of you, except piercing, I think. So, for example, when I hit a Cursed Urn that might turn into a pack of archers that kill me, I hit it and immediately Teleport, leaving the Urdar taking all the hits.

Re: other stats, you can pick what you like, whether that is maxing Blood Boil, maxing Tainted, maxing Goats/ Death Mark, or just using defilers and delving a bit into one of the other trees.

I play fire warlock because the gearing is simple and I get to have max resists and 4k+ hp

only "expensive" item might be a diabolos book and Zod for Obsession (as well as Enigma of course)

rest are not super rare or expensive.

Flickering Flame / 2X Sojs / Arachnid / Magefist / War Travs / Mara

+u get to use a Bone Visage which just looks badass imo

Because I like having max resists and easy 125 FCR without having to spend more on a +2 / 20 fcr necklace which costs more and drops resists even further.

Obsession with its 65 FCR and 60-70 all res makes gearing the other slots much cheaper.

Also you are already sitting at around -55-75 fire resistance without mang song from skill (-40), Flickering Flame (-10-15) and Renewed sunder (-5-10) and an uber jewel (-5-10) and 1 shotting everything in p8 already anyway

The extra -10 to 15 from mang song in exchange for not having 125fcr or not having capped resist is not worth it to me.

For people that just like seeing bigger numbers on character sheet but less qol mang songs is their choice

I run 125 FCR with maxed resistances with Mang Song. But it is tough and expensive to hit the FCR and Res, you have to maximize every slot and small charm. I normally play on P1, so I prefer RoF for most situations to apocolpyse or flame wall, which have a delay, and the extra fire res is nice there. RoF will not 1 shot enemies on P8, and even on P1 I'd say it only 1 shots about 30% of enemies. I normally just pound it 2-3 times and collect the Gold/loot that I am right in the center of. Knocks back most enemies so they can't attack you too.

With RoF you can have 10+10+15+15 = -50 res from gear and skills (FF,jewel,sunder, Consume), so the additional -20 on Mang's is nice versus fire immunes, boosts RoF kill speed by 40%. You can also get -17 from Conviction, but it takes 0-2 seconds for the aura to pulse and I find the mana problems annoying without Insight, so I have been running without Infinity.

However, I agree - the easy 95% way to get there that makes the other slots super easy is to just run Obsession, it is incredible. Solves resist and FCR problems, the main two "problems" every build has to solve, and gives +4 skills along with it, not to mention max mana and max life. And the build is still incredible.

On P8, I suspect I might run as you do. Apoc probably wins over RoF on P8, so the -20 doesn't help as much, plus may want to run Conviction on P8 and rely on the dual soj and Hex Siphon to deal with the mana.

Spamming RoF with a Mang setup gives you about 60-70% of the effective damage of Apocolypse (depending on enemy fire res) over the ~2 sec it takes for Apoc to proc, but on P1 you only need 1-3 casts to kill most everything, so it ends up being faster than waiting for Apoc. Also, because it knocks enemies back, you can safely position yourself in the center of the crowd you are killing, which then makes loot pickup faster. On P8, you need presumably need 4 - 12 casts (taking 1.3 - 4 seconds), and so Apoc is better.

Im running Abyss with Sigil Death in full Naj's Ancient Vestige with round about 350mf and 450gf. There was no TZ / Herald i couldnt finish, because MAGIC. Love it. With Consume and a merc with Harmony i am also very fast 100%fr+. Its super budget and fcr is not needed.
