Opinion: Single Player Infinity Base

I'm nearing being able to make Infinity on single player (1

Ber away!), and I'm not sure if I want to make it in a nice elite base for maximum mercenary effectiveness, or if I want to make it in a

Scythe to use with my

Nova sorceress. I use that setup with my online version, offline I am currently running Crescent Moon Runeword and Spirit, which I actually think is also pretty nice. It's obviously going to be shared between characters, so I'm not sure how much my other toons will suffer if the merc uses a non-elite Infinity (I guess it depends on the character). I am leaning towards using an elite base, but just wanted to see if there were any opinions on this, thanks!

This is just my opinion, as I also play both online and SSF and I also am familiar with both self wield Infinity and Insight.

I like self wield Infinity myself, only bc the mercs aura lags by the 2 seocond pulse timer, even when you

Teleport. However; your

Conviction aura will proc as soon as you reach the

Teleport destination.

On the other hand, if you are not playing HC SSF, you can always run a 200% ES

Nova build by self wielding Insight.

In any even, the engine is online, but when you are ES

Nova Sorc, do you even really care what damage your Merc is doing? Lol.

I definitely don't care what damage he is doing when I'm playing the

Nova sorc, but I might on other classes, that's the only issue. I'm really not sure xD

This is good info though! I knew about the lag on the aura, didn't realize it was that long. It's something to think about.

It depends on how many chars should use the Infi.

1. If your

Nova Sorc is your main and you intend to play her more than all other elemental builds, then go for a self-wield Infinity just for your

Nova Sorc. it is mighty strong because the minus enemy light res fully applies. It gets lost if your merc carries the Infi (see below).

2. Or you make it in an elite base for your merc. That will benefit many other builds, for example: Javazon, Fire Sorc, Cold Sorc, Fire Dudu, Dream or Dragon Pala and many more. And your

Nova Sorc also profits from it, but not half as much as from a self-wield Infi.

I also didn't take into account that if I give it to the merc, then I won't have Insight for mana sustain anymore. I could self-wield that instead but then I lose the minus enemy light res from CM. Looking more like self-wield Infinity actually is the way to go.

If you can gamble a

Silkweave, its not as good as Insight but does make sorc playable without it

Nova sorc, then I have Ethereal Infinity

More importantly, a

War Scythe has a dex req of 80, ethereal at 70. With 20att

Annihilus and 20att

Hellfire Torch you are at 65, so it's not optimal. Having an ethereal Infinity for self-wielding purposes is not optimal either since you can't pre-cast

Cyclone Armor at will (before

Energy Shield).

If you want to use normal base Infinity for your merc, bear in mind that he will be dying to having next to no damage to leech from unless you can clear any content before he gets into action.

I'd recommend 4OS non-Ethereal

Yari .101 str requirement is more than easy for a Sorc. your merc and javazon have it by default.
Damage is ok-ish, speed with Treachery or Hustle on merc is enough. Why choose

Yari: you can use it on a sorc, on your merc or someday to try it on your javazon. It is not perfect choice for any setup but very versatile and gives you options. Since it is your first one and you don't plan selling it - this is way to go.

Online I have Infinity in

Stygian Pike and in

Mancatcher (one in LOD one in RoTW). Both are Ethereal.
Next one will be either

Yari or

Brandistock/

Spetum.
