Description

As a kid playing d2, the notification "diablo walks the earth" appeared. I had no idea what that was or meant, so continued on. Then there he was, that b*stard killed me so many times that I gave up and quit, not knowing why he was there or what he did. After learning about the anni, that's when the fomo set in. 20 freaking years. Since RotW came out, my barb was all geared up and ready. Today there was a multi-server walk. D clone never stood a chance. Now I'm reflecting on this like it's getting revenge for my former self, with 3 annis. It's both nostalgic and rewarding. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Please share your story too! I'd love to know I'm not the only one here.

Aye, he's become a lot more accessible.
Every walk is "multi-server" in that it now triggers for every single hell game in that game mode and on that region. No more getting extremely lucky or actively hunting IPs needed.

Anywho, congrats on finally getting your revenge! :)

Never had an Anni 20 years ago. I tried buying one once and got scammed out of my perf. Hoto. Not fun.

Then in d2r big D appeared during one of my pub trade games while farming for keys. My sorc was not ready. I was so afraid someone would join and snatch him from me. 😅
15 minutes later I was holding my first ever Anni. A bit above average but it felt amazing. 💪

Looking for a cheap Cure on D2R HCNL? I got some!

I also have 100+ crafted amulets (from cheap to gg) on D2R SCNL. Let me know what you are looking for. 🙂

Congrats man. You must be referring to the great HCNL Dclonevwalk of 19 April. I got two
Annihilus
charms today and I feel very happy too. Hunting dclone on hardcore gives you a big sense of accomplishment

First time I encountered
Diablo Clone
I didn't know about this game mechanic. I was in
Travincal
and my merc went inside where the Council was. I didn't know why there were so much fireworks in there. It was the
Ring of Fire
spell.

He came outside and tried to kill him with my underpowered blizzard sorceress but with no result.

I then changed to
Hydra
/ fire ball but again, with no results.
I start reading online about this
Diablo Clone
and improvised a strategy but my then-low-gear I couldn't kill him.

I had a ton of adrenaline with that fight but after 4 hours I gave up went to sleep (it was 4 AM by that time).
Reading more about this I finally got my first Anni using the
Palace Cellar Level 3
trick. Now I can fight him like a real fighter, not needing to hide behind the door. :)

I did not even know of DClone or Anni 20 years ago :)

However, with D2R, met my first one about 1 to 2 months after start. Had left my PC out of the bedroom not to annoy my life, left it in the kitchen overnight, and killed him when I woke up in the middle of the night in
Cold Plains
(
Bishibosh
) after a 30 minutes long fight and quite a bunch of Urdars revived and lost (my first char was and still is a necromancer). Got a not great Anni, but felt proud. Second one was a week after, fight was much cleaner and netted me a 20/18/10 that is still in use on one of my chars. :)

Then, must have had around 1 to 3 hundreds of them in the period they were happening more than daily in SC NL Asia, where you left a game opened, checked an hour later, killed, reopened and so on. :) Got after quite a bunch of it one and only one perfect that is still on my... necro.

First time I ever faced Dclone (back in the 2000s) I just happened to be in a game when I saw the SOJ selling messages, and then saw he spawned. Had to have someone help me take him down. Much later, much forgot how I did this, but my pasttime was spent dclone hunting. I remember it was more difficult because you had to be on the specific server, cant remember much about that. I do remember have multiple accounts full of various characters that all had Annis.

Now in D2R, and with being able to easily switch & track servers I have literally too many of them. Last ladder I could not even give away for free a few. Even made game "Free Anni" and nobody came, so I left.

While the anni is not so rare of a prize, it is a fun experience just randomly coming across him when you least expect it. Last fall I had him spawn in Chaos and I was so confused because why is Diablo there when I only hit 1 seal...what is going on!

I still haven't gotten him in my after all these years. Only once, my first, when I was helped as a noob. And my second time was 5 seconds before last ladder reset (and I never got to him before the end).

I keep missing the walks during the night on Thursdays. Any tips?

Is there a generally agreed upon time that people dump their SoJs?

Planned walks are either public (hosted/run by a community or a streamer) or private (done by shady folks in Black robes). Regardless, SoJs are typically sold at/near a specific time, yes. But there's a difference of course. Private walks are private because they don't want anyone else to catch them, they pick a region and a time when they think few people will be on, the exact walk time may seem a bit random, and the SoJs are usually sold so fast that even if you get a notification that status is progressing, you won't have time to react unless you just happen to be on the correct region. Public walks are known in advance, because community X or streamer Y announced beforehand that they'd be doing it at Z day & time. Typically exactly on the hour (XX:00), or if there's going to be multiple walks, at 15 or 30 minute intervals or something like that. And then the community or streamer sell the SoJs at the designated time(s).

But "people" don't just dump SoJs at a some "generally agreed upon" time. There's no such thing. It's always planned by a person or a group of people who know each other (part of the same group / community).
