Have always wondered if anyone has examined if there are any differences between the different options of playing D2R online. I always make public games out of paranoia even though I rather run solo. Anyone have any experience with this or seen it examined? Blizz ever make a statement clarifying?

I almost always just click play unless I'm doing ubers or a long TZ game. I would hope there is no difference.

No perceived difference at least.
And 'play' does lead to a game with the exact same functionality as a lobby game with a password, merely with a random name/pass crafted for you.
Only difference is that in public games your drops get stolen.

Been pleasantly surprised by how kind & polite the community has been so far. I've only ran into two people who wouldn't leave when asked nicely/purposely antagonizing me. Glad to hear that there aren't any differences. I think a few runs being terrible for drops created a conspiracy theory in my head xDSchnorki wrote: 5 hours agoNo perceived difference at least.
