Description

I goy myself a Griffon for my Nova sorceress and I was wondering what should I socket it with.
The obvious option would be a lighting facet, but I have doubts because the Griffon is not perfect.

Do you think is worth spending on a 5/-5 facet for a non perfect Griffon? Or should I go for a cheaper one 5/4 or 4/4, something like that
Or maybe should I socket it with something different?

Can be used to make Runewords:

Facets are relatively cheap, go for it.

I would try to get a -20 one before I socket it if not single player.

Man, that's a good Griffon's and a Facet will make it only better.

I hope the latter two replies are ironic...

I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io

Meh, perfect gear is expensive and for minimal gains IMO, I would only worry about that once you're very rich and have nothing else to shoot for. Doesn't take long to get a socket quest, if that's what you're worried about; and you can even pay for those if you cba.

I say whack a facet in it, cheaper one will do if you're still a bit tight, or upgrade to RotW and get yourself a Guardian's Thunder. :)

That's actually a really good call, I'm checking prices and low Guardian thunder is cheaper than a 5/-5 Facet lol

Probably a ladder/non-ladder thing?

Playing HC SSF right now.

Hell completed: Sorc, Druid, Paladin, Ama, Assa, Necro, Barb
Iron Man (Paladin): Nightmare A1

My rules of thumb:
- Facet value ~ item value
- Performance over resell value

If you are using the griffon on a self wield Infinity sorc, you can go with a 5/-4.

If this is for a Javazon, go for a X/-5.

Playing HC SSF right now.

in d2r , 1p , LoD, Nova sorc

if you have Infinity in merc or yourself.
You can try Um or jewel all res+damage to mana or Sol.

facet is okay if you dont have extra thing. like self wield inf.

Run it see which suit you.

Some Trade is available for both rotw and LoD, Most rune , Perfect Gems is only in LoD side.

Just to repeat one important thing:
There is literally no difference that could be noticed between -5/+3 and -5/+5 facet once you have Lightning Mastery maxed out.

In response.. Lightning Bolt you to the face!

I think it could be related to only being able to wear one uber jewel at a time. That couple with the fact there is almost certainly (in my humble opinion) fewer 5/5 lightning facets than Guardian Thunders; e.g., there is a direct farming route to an uber jewel, but facets are just pure RNG you cannot shape.
7
Unless you plan on waiting to find a perfect one for some reason, I'd just toss a facet or one of the new lightning jewels in it. That roll is really good.

All trades are negotiable within reason :)

I would go for a cheap Guardian's Thunder. There are plenty of them out there by now, both ladder and non-ladder.

Or buy a lightning facet with -5 to enemy light res. -5/3 is cheap and totally fine. Minus light res is much more important than light damage.

I have long time not check light facet...looks like that market crashed.
3 x perfect light facet = Jah. (sample today, range from Vex to Ohm, some sold in Ist and Lo- Jah are exclude)
And low thunder is Ohm

in lod's calculation, facet is 4.x Ist while Ohm is 4. but in rotw , it is 3.x Ist... almost same price.

I remember it was 2-3 Jah back to LoD days. That I still have very few 5/5 in house...

I have feeling , by the time I get rotw, those facet will down to 1 Ist or less....

==
Nova sorc can use engima , Phoenix , eye means only need 1.

meanwhile, javzon , eye, 4/3 os armor or chain of Honor, nix / 4 os shield , may still need it.

Some Trade is available for both rotw and LoD, Most rune , Perfect Gems is only in LoD side.
