The third option is at the vendors
Rationally, it would be the most convenient to click a button every ten seconds and every so often it tells you "You won!"
I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io
One might say D2 was decades ahead of the times, even in that.human_being wrote: 15 hours ago[..] this is a real case of game design that incentivizes players to gimp their own enjoyment [..]
After all, most games today actively gimp player enjoyment, in some cases nearly entirely. Difference being that while here it is in favor of power creep and at least still optional, in other, more modern games it is forced and solely in favor of addiction triggers.
My standard setup for PVM characters. Maximize charm space, even the keys could go if needed.
Eastern Standard Time. All trades are Reign of the Warlock only.
They could add a unique small charm that has a storage of 4 spaces in which you can conveniently place the Horadric Cube. Maybe the russian edition has that already?

Yeah, the Matryoshka Cube.TeleTabitha wrote: 8 hours agoThey could add a unique small charm that has a storage of 4 spaces in which you can conveniently place the Horadric Cube. Maybe the russian edition has that already?
There is another way, if your charm is strong enough, pvm 1p. You probably dont need so many of them.
Especially charms are not as valuable as used to be.
My source says, there is a huge production lately. Charm can see a huge value drop. The source says some retire seller come back to play and build a huge production line...
If you have some need, it is time to buy some , it should be really cheap now.
I didnt have it and not buy those. In my Memory, I saw 5/20 as high as 28-35 Jah back to old days people talk about.
Now when I check it, it is only 14-19 Jah. 50% value drop. Those keep them as currency suffer at least 10 Jah loss per charm.
Looking at need, I guess, small charm produce a lot to create this huge drop. A lot more than market can absorb.
3/20/20 , I cant remember old price but I remember I saw some trade at 70. And average around 60-80. As for today, it is 43-50 . Also see a huge drop, 15-20 Jah per charm value loss.
I might be late, I didnt follow this thing because I dont use it as currency that much. And I am not sure what is production line means, the source only says so. It remind me old LoD White ring story or something similar. [Please trade small, I feel something is happening]

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.
I have (nearly) zero qualms with charms and find it really exciting to identify them along the journey. BUT one issue. And that's because the + skills affix only land on grand variants, it makes large charms effectively useless from a min/max perspective. I find that quite sad, and if I were to propose a fix it would be on the UI side to prevent an inventory locked into GCs/SCs.
Maybe if large charms rolled 2x1 intead of 1x2 in 50% of the cases?
I will not take offers that bypass diablo2.io
Large charms can be pretty strong for melee chars not needing +skills (max damage + attack rating + life) On ladder, I pick up all large charms and last season I got lucky and sold a strong melee lc for almost 2 Jah
The down side of keep small charm as currency is that those charm is very hard to use it to pay something. There some way to spend it, yes . But it is not as convenient as Ist/ Jah or stature , new jewels.
Even if you know someone is printing money, small charms every 2 day. There is no easy way for massive small charm holder to adjust to better currency. There is some production line out there, yes, we all can see value drop sharply.
Some people may think my Memory goes wrong about old price( too high?) I am not very sure about it too. After all, I check it like 6 month ago.
My advise still, dont keep all value in small charms. Move some into perfect new jewels.

My inventory looks very similar, tho I haven't used a Tome of Town Portal in quite some time. That's where my torch goes. I just put TP scrolls in my Belt and carry the ID Tome.TheSoulReaver wrote: 19 hours agoI personally fill my inventory with a Horadric Cube, Tome of Identify, Tome of Town Portal & rest with charms depending on the class & build & what I have in my bank.
If I have reached the maximum resistance i'll go for more magic find/life & +skillers,
if not I'll fill it with all resistance/life or specific resist charms to reach the caps.
And I always leave room of 8 spaces so I can pick up items, identify them and if they're of value I throw them in the cube.
Same with runes & gems I pick up along the way they all go into the cube
I assume this is somewhat the way most people also operate so having a Sling leaves needing a Tome giving you 2 more slots for charms.
Edit: I have added a screenshot to give you an idea
From right to left.
Gheed's Fortune
Flame Rift
Annihilus
Hellfire Torch
and the rest charms with magic find/life

Yup. There are great ones out there, but like you said it's relegated to melee which isn't exactly a popular route these days. I refer to this chart on skiller viability:mikelessar wrote: 6 hours agoLarge charms can be pretty strong for melee chars not needing +skills (max damage + attack rating + life) On ladder, I pick up all large charms and last season I got lucky and sold a strong melee lc for almost 2 Jah
I'm definitely not arguing that there aren't a lot of bad games out there. D2 was ahead of its time in a lot of ways (or, put another way, it had a tremendous influence), but even though pretty much every aspect of it has been copied/iterated on a million times, charms haven't. There's a very good reason for that.Schnorki wrote: 9 hours agoOne might say D2 was decades ahead of the times, even in that.human_being wrote: 15 hours ago[..] this is a real case of game design that incentivizes players to gimp their own enjoyment [..]

And, in a way, being "optional" (in quotation marks because power increases are what players chase, so they're the tool designers have to direct behavior) is part of what makes them so bad. If it were a fixed system, the designers probably would've felt forced to have it interfere less with convenience.
I'd be very interested to see how Brevik or other D2 designers evaluate charms now.

I don’t have a single character that has more than a sunder/anni/torch.. so it’s not like they are necessary to survive … so why?
Edit: and I have seen a lot of requests for a “charm bag”… may as well ask for an undetectable extension charm and carry everything you ever find with you. Do you really need the handicap of charms? We didn’t even have this for d1 and d2 and there are much more powerful items available in ROTW/LOD
-tp-book

the amount of cope for a QoL issue that simply shouldn't exist anymore is incredible. boomers out in full force
Elemental skillers are A tear? I have about 4 I am trying to sell in HCNL for puny Pul each and no one wants them.ghostpos wrote: 5 hours agoYup. Up to the point, my favourite item in the game is the charm, lol. I get most excited when a grand charm is dropped. If I could wear charms on all gear slots too , I would. I guess it’s just a matter of preference
@ipatrishkov Meh no one playing Druid right now, except me lol.
