Perhaps. I was talking P5-7 because thats what I usually farm them on (usually P7) so maybe it was presumptuous of me to automatically assume everyone else farming keys was doing the same. But, again being real here, who is seriously farming keys on P1?

I've been keeping track of my runs for the last couple months or more and have well over 100 of all of them. The drop rates listed here on this site are accurate, and most people don't seem to get that "1 in 8 chance" does not =

Key automatically drops every 8th run. When you're playing board games and roll a six sided die, it's not automatically going to roll a 6 on every 6th roll. If you don't have the patience to farm, maybe D2R isn't the game for you.

Drop chances are not much different for P7. I just put it there in case someone wants to verify the odds.

And to answer your question who farms keys on P1: Everyone playing online who doesn't have a bot farm?
Or is there a trick I'm not aware of?

People don't play pub games now? Or have a group of guys they play with on the regular? I haven't played online for awhile but I used to join pub games all the time just to get better than shitty P1 drop rates.

Besides that, the online community in Switch is probably like 1/10th what it is on PC and I never had trouble consistently finding 2 or 3 people to play with - so for people on PC it should be even easier, no?

(until I started playing HCL, then the lobbies on Switch are pretty dead).

Drop chances for Tkey from Countess are 1:13 on P1 vs 1:9 on P7. Dkey (Nihl) is 1:12 vs 1:8. That equals 50% more keys on P7 than on P1. I wouldn't call that "not much different", I'd call that a substantially better drop rate.

I usually farm TZ and if e.g. Countess is terrorized, you won't be able to find a 7P game where countess is free for you to farm without every 3-5 minutes.

Even if you run keys when non-terrorized, having consistly runnable 7P games up is near impossible, at least on EU server.

You might get more value out of running if you run whatever is free though. But if you want to farm one specific type of

Key, just making your own games one after the other gets you the results faster.

Thanks everyone for the replies, seems odd but not that rare, and definitely not a bug (but looked like a statistical oddity from my point of view in 25 years of farming)

Fr though idk why people be out here acting like it's that hard ... like I said grind them on P7 and I can damn near guarantee you'll have minimum 3 keys after 100 runs if not several more. Ive gotten 3 Hkeys in less than 20 summoner runs. If u can't handle it then like I said maybe this game isn't for u.

I'm at about 3K hrs on D2R and I've dropped 1

Jah so I hear ya there too. Way easier to get them through trading obvs.

Running whatever is free is usually what I would do. If I'm farming for keys I dont really care if its TZ, and if its online I'm just picking pub game with the highest player count usually.

Obvs there's a very clear difference illustrated here between online MP and offline SP too. I got kinda sick of online multi-player partly because I like P7-P8 settings too much both for the drops and the challenge, and Switch only allows 4 players online anyways. Plus HCL lobbies tend to be dead so if I'm playing HC I might as well do offline SP where I can at least play P7-P8 if I want.

On multi-player you can trade which might make it easier it some circumstances, but sometimes can prove more of a hassle than grinding it yourself.

Is it fun? No. But it’s very profitable because other people like yourself don’t want to do it.
