Can be used to make Runewords:

I'm new to trading and I don't know how much most items cost. I rely on people with experience like you to offer a fair price. Then I will compare with past sales just to make sure the offer is in the ballpark. I know this might slow trades and I will move to having the price in the offer soon, as I'm trying to absorb as much info as possible. Just wanted to share this perspective.
I 100% agree brother.TimeSlayer wrote: 2 hours ago99% of ads are asking for offers on throw away items.

When ppl put "LF -Runes" it's like "no shit! we all are!"
What runes exactly?
If I have to do 2 hours of market research to come up with the magic number ppl have imaginary in their head, I just pass the trade and say fuck it, I'll find it elsewhere. Start a bid at Pul / Um / Ist depending of course on the item.
Just lazy, no pictures, no stats, no price.
Hey I gotta rare Dagger - lf - runes
Just the laziest dump post. No respect for the community.
I understand bro.
Yeah, and that's another thing, quit taking advantage of all the new players now the RotW is out.VoodooChille wrote: 2 hours agoI'm new to trading and I don't know how much most items cost. Hey, shit Helm - lf offers
Uhhh, Ist?
Yehaw - I'll take that!
Just dirty. I don't live my life inside, or outside, of this game like that. Ever.
I think "no respect for the community" is a little harsh.... Some people just don't know the market as well as others, myself included on some items. In fact, I regularly UNDERvalue items.
OP
if ur going to compare bids with past sales after u get a bid, just do it first and figure out what u want. ur expecting the buyer to look up the past prices for every item they are interested in? nobody has time for that. ur saving people way more time and it takes u the same amount of time.VoodooChille wrote: 2 hours agoI'm new to trading and I don't know how much most items cost. asking for offers is for items that cost many Jah, where the price is going to be highly variable. like in real life, auctions are for paintings or things that cost 10s of thousands or millions of dollars, u don't go to an auction when u want to buy a microwave or a toaster.
as someone who's been selling for awhile u will sell way more items much faster if u list ur asking price. if there are many people selling the same item as u, save everyone time and just list ur asking price.
Just remember, if item is old LoD item in NL SC.VoodooChille wrote: 2 hours agoI'm new to trading and I don't know how much most items cost. Usually put a price tag between 1 Perfect Amethyst - 3 Perfect Amethyst is reasonable tag.
For massive production item, 1-3 Perfect Gems is usually reasonable.
You can get a huge return by massive sell it in cheap.
It is unrealistic to put too high expectation on long exist items, in rotw Perfect Gems value is much lower than it was in LoD, so does many low runes.
Keys are in opposite direction, LoD side is much cheaper than it is in rotw and the gap is much bigger than Perfect Gems in rotw vs LoD.
There are some people who use different approach, they put all items in Ist pricing, even if it is mass production. That, it can get some item sell for long period of time but profit is terrible. sells lenth average for items will be 15 days longer than stay in 1-3 Perfect Amethyst approach. Still it is valid trade , just different choice.
Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.
Oh, I price everything at Lem. So I'm not looking to get rich, I'm just looking to move things I don't need for my classes, that other classes will need, bc I know the struggle. I have every class at or near lvl 90. I moved something that wld go for Ist, Ber, Jah for a few Lems bc I know others need and I'm not hurting for currency. If you do not know how the market works, then you did not read the forum.steveodc5 wrote: 2 hours agoI think "no respect for the community" is a little harsh.... You wouldn't operate heavy machinery without training or at the very least, an instruction manual.
Check out the link below, it will answer all of your questions. Everybody should read this when they open an account here. Why would you not? Why just "go at it blind" when all the info on how to be respectful and have positive interactions is right here? Just confusing the way ppl work sometimes.

Harsh, no. Harsh is everyone else who didn't read the rules first. You enter a community and do whatever you want however you want? Sounds like Chaos. This place has guidelines and I would suggest that everyone read those guidelines when making an account. It's so foolish that the answer is "oh I don't know what I'm doing..." Yeah bc you didn't read. Ignorance is not an excuse to be rude.

My take on “asking for offers” and “my bin is xxx”:
Its a double edged sword situation.
Like the OP, if an item isnt rare or easily to come by, best to put a bin on it.
If an item is rare or there isnt enough info to place a bin, then yeah ask for an offer
My experience with this has its good and bad results.
When i place an item and put a bin, the potential buyer thinks i overpriced and dont bother to offer; so might as well let ppl offer and i choose the best offer at the end?
Then we have the kind of buyers who dm and ask “hey what is your bin?” U let them know its xxx amount, they then reply “its overpriced, my offer is xxx instead”, really? Then why dont u offer that to begin with so i can say “no thank you, ur offer isnt within my range”.
Overall, for certain items, having a bin is ok assumign the items is widely available and price is known.
Otherwise, asking for offers is ok. Also why put a bin on an item that you are unsure of its value and get the short end of the stick?
Overall, hard to satisfy everyone
I have the best solution though to appease everyone ….
Sell an item, have the bin price to be the top(based on the seller research) then at the same time, say “ OBO”
Ei: 40 jahs OBO
So if buyer dont wqnt to pay 40 jahs, they can offer. Its a win win for seller and buyer
But then, 80% of the time, the potential buyer still asks “ whats the.m bin”… its like they dont even bother to read the “OBO” part.
I just ignore those potential buyers and move on

Can trade on PC or SWITCH
I've read the guidelines. Can assure you that myself and everyone I've interacted with is respectful and had positive interactions. You can't learn that from a set of guidelines online.... The issue being addressed is the market value of certain items which exist in a dynamic and changing marketplace - ladder for sure. Non-ladder, I was blown away certain items were still worth what they are. Granted, the warlock expansion certainly caused a "resurrection" if you will of folks playing the game again - resulting in trades blowing up.Bizington wrote: 2 hours agoOh, I price everything at Lem. I get all previous points made though. Try to arrive at an asking price before posting, and you'll see better results and not piss anyone off. I'll do so myself moving forward.
Lem is approach sit between average pricing and high Ist pricing.Bizington wrote: 2 hours agoOh, I price everything at Lem. In current market, it is suitable for people who does not want trade a lot to get profit and quickly Jah engima.
Long run , yes, good.
Mid run, okay.
Short run, x.
I myself did some shopping on good roll item in Lem pricing, like Goldwrap, very good small charms(9-11 LR +something soso)., small things like Perfect Gems series, low runes.
Sales length is several week longer than average pricing. if have enough storage and not play so much. I highly recommend this...(production ~> sales)

I see what you are saying. So changing from Lem to Pammy or Pgem may increase trade velocity. I will look into this.leox wrote: 1 hour agoLem is approach sit between average pricing and high Ist pricing.Bizington wrote: 2 hours agoOh, I price everything at Lem. All of my trades have the same post:
[BIN - (X) Lem
or offer Perfect Gems
Unique item trades welcome]
That's how I've been posting, bc for whatever reason I'm just in love with Lem runes lol.
Thank you for sharing!
Unfortunately, however, I will continue to let the buyer suggest the value unless I have something in mind. Have a good day!

My favorite is when you put in an offer, let's just say 5 Jah. And the seller comes back with "I was looking to get 10 Jah". Well why didn't you start off with that? Were you hoping someone didn't do their research and offer you 15 Jah?
When a seller writes "lf offers" I immediately assume 1 of 2 things if its not a super rare item:
1) Lazy and didn't want to research fair prices
2) Hoping someone offers more than fair value to take advantage
I almost never waste my time on trades with only "lf offers". Most of the time the sellers get annoyed with my offers. Its like going to a grocery store and instead of seeing prices tags on the items everything says "make offer". Ok, how about 5 bucks for my whole shopping cart? If everything says "make offer" its a garage sale and you're getting low-balled. Don't get mad or insulted when you get low-balled. In my opinion its the sellers responsibility to research their item's value. Don't crowd-source offers to determine value. If you genuinely don't know what your item is worth, then ask before posting it.

Will buy any 3 minor keys for an Ist - message me.
Will accept statues and keys instead of rune payments for my trades.

Classic negotiation theory at play
For certain trades, I do agree that we all basically know the exchange rates to the point where you could consider them commodity markets.
But outside runes/gems/token trades, some of this is indeed driven by wanting to see what move the buyers make first. Maybe a random buyer is hungry and says “screw it, that Pally torch might only be worth an Ohm, but I’m in a hurry, so Lo it is and let’s get this trade closed ahead of my next TZ run.”
