Has anyone used a worldstone shard so far? Since it terrorizes the entire act it should be easier to find and kill some heralds. Or do heralds only spawn in the normal rotating tz?

The only time i managed to see and kill a Herald is when doing tz Tal Rasha's Tomb, I personally felt that other maps tend to have insufficient unique/champion packs to summon the Herald), if they do appear then they have a chance to drop/not drop it, makes this latent sunder so hard to acquire.anselmo wrote: 3 weeks agoThe biggest problem: it is insane to get a latent one. The heralds are rare and the chance to drop one is worst. They must balance that. New players will never have a chance to play hell without the old versions.
In short, either they make heralds' appearance easier/ more frequent/ bigger pack, or, they guarantee drop latent sunder upon Death, otherwise it's so difficult to acquire one atm... QQ
I cleared the whole acts 2 and 4 terrorized, using those new stones, and found just 5 heralds... None dropped the sunder. This toke me a long time, and Im playing with a top gear javazon, that usually is pretty quick. Other try, I cleared acts 3 and 4, same results. It's insane...

Yes, use a Shard to terrorize an Act and keep playing to spawn Heralds.atari wrote: 3 weeks agoHas anyone used a worldstone shard so far? Since it terrorizes the entire act it should be easier to find and kill some heralds. Or do heralds only spawn in the normal rotating tz?
I posted on another topic, but I'll repeat quickly here (my current theory): the Herald of Terror is the 5th Herald you spawn in a game. The 4 others before him are Heralds of FRIGHT.
I suppose only this 5th Herald (of Terror!) can drop Latent Sund Charms. (?)
I used more than 6 shards, cleared the entire act, killed around 15 heralds and 0 sunder was dropped.atari wrote: 3 weeks agoHas anyone used a worldstone shard so far? In a game I killed 7 heralds in a roll, no sunder was dropped. The monster was very hard to kill.tadkarcz wrote: 3 weeks agoYes, use a Shard to terrorize an Act and keep playing to spawn Heralds.atari wrote: 3 weeks agoHas anyone used a worldstone shard so far? Did you notice how many of those Heralds had the name Herald of Terror? (and not Herald of FRIGHT)
Being honest, I didn't notice this difference in the names. I will try to pay more attention next time. After the forth Herald, there's some risk to be killed, even with good gear. They killed my mercenary some times. So I was focused in the battle.tadkarcz wrote: 3 weeks agoHm that's interesting to know, thank you.anselmo wrote: 3 weeks agoIn a game I killed 7 heralds in a roll, no sunder was dropped. Nyffs wrote: 3 weeks agoSo, my next question :
Does the regular Sunder Charms still drop from the game not upgraded to RotW ?
Because according the maxroll drop calculator I posted, they don't appear in their loot table. Or do they let the " Latent Cold Rupture" as if it was a normal Cold Rupture for example ?
We can't choose the version of the game (or I don't see it) on their website.
Because if it still drops from the D2R regular game, I'll have to build up a new sorc ^^
Does anyone know the answer to this by chance? If we keep a character as an expansion character or don't purchase the RotW DLC , can Sunder Charms still drop in terrorized zones as they used to? Otherwise it effectively means Blizzard decided to lock all Sunder Charms behind the DLC...which would be pretty scummy to remove content.
Then start leveling her up! 'Cause I just got the answer to this pressing question: yes, the good old Sunder Charms still drop while playing non-RotW.Nyffs wrote: 3 weeks agoSo, my next question :

I just now played 30 minutes of TZ Arcane Sanctuary (Single Player) with my BlizzSorc and got one. Here's some legacy graphics screenshots...

Great !
Saperlipopette !
@tadkarcz - You're amazing, thank you for the confirmation!
Big update a few of us caught in the last version hot fix that was under the radar.
They adjusted SUNDERS AGAIN!
Variable ranges on resist are back, and guess what happens when you craft them to Renewed? Watch to find out.
@Teebling you may want to take a look at this to adjust Renewed - I tested today as you can see in video and looks very real.

Thanks @War The Wise I'm on it!
Obviously they can continue to fine-tune and adjust. But figured I would call it out. Offline (mod) testing it worked. I guess we will need to see what happens in the live server-side environment.
In my opionion a very good overview of the current state - especially the strategy tips to maximize your chance for Heralds / Sunder Charms.
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

Single Player on PS5: No, the new latent sunders do not roll anti-perfect - at least at this point in time.
I found one maybe an hour ago, the renewed one ended up perfect (regarding the -res). Could be a coincidence but I doubt it.

Can I ask what you think we did for 20 years before sunder charms existed? What do you mean new players will never have the chance to play hell? They'll just have to play like we used to, which involves playing some variation of hybrid if you want to farm everything. The game facilitates that better these days too because you can just respec when you get your charm. Sunder charms do not enable hell, they enable hyper specialized builds and laziness.anselmo wrote: 3 weeks agoThe biggest problem: it is insane to get a latent one. I've seen other players saying that Sunder Charms have broken the game. I disagree. They enabled some builds that were too weak without them. Casual and new players had more chances with the former sunder. Games have changed a lot in 20 years. There's no problem with evolution. Nobody is lazy because of that. Now we have a feature that is so insane to get that it has almost become a Dream. 99.99% of players don't have a Sunder Charm, not even a bad one, and 0.01% are extremely lucky or pro players with insanely strong Sunder Charms, better than before. I know that Diablo must have some challenge or it will become boring too soon, but Sunder Charms are completely unbalanced now. The new Ancient Ubers are much easier to do. If you think sunder is bad, then the devs should remove it from the game. Otherwise, you will create an unfair difference between new players who will never get a Sunder Charm and old or pro players with an insane advantage.SaveMeXenu wrote: 10 hours agoCan I ask what you think we did for 20 years before sunder charms existed? Did you seriously type this out on a forum for Diablo 2 of all games? While also dodging my question no less. Please, answer it.anselmo wrote: 9 hours agoI've seen other players saying that Sunder Charms have broken the game. I disagree. They enabled some builds that were too weak without them. Moving to your other points though; Sunder charms neither break the game, nor are they a requirement to do literally any content in the game. I also never said people are lazy for using them, I said they enable people to be lazy. Meaning you never have to swap skills because you can just spam your main skill at everything.
Everything you wrote can also be applied to literally any high rune in the game. The first player to find a Jah and Ber rune in the ladder has a massive advantage. Get some perspective and stop whining. If your build is too weak to play without a sunder charm, change your build. The game gives you 3 free respecs. Use them. If you're out, farm tokens of absolution, which I know for a fact you can do fairly easily without a sunder charm.
If you're complaining about the ladder being an unfair race for the average joe, Sunder charms are the least of your concerns. You already stand no chance because the ladder is a team effort for the top players. None of them do it solo. Moreover, this is you moving goalposts. You've pivoted from "the game can't be played without sunder charms" to "players who have them have a very large advantage over those who don't", and that advantage only matters if you're talking about competing on the ladder.
