Attach button issue on new trade posts, image drag/paste not working

Bug Report

2

Description

Device: Desktop computer
Browser: Numerous (Firefox, Chrome, and Edge)
OS: Windows 11 (Build 26200)

Steps to reproduce: Create new Trade post. Attempting to click "Optional: Attach a cropped screenshot of the item" receives no response. Copy/pasting an image directly into the comments text submission field receives no response, nor does dragging an image into the text submission field.

Anything else to add: Attempted to troubleshoot this at length. Tried multiple browsers, ensured no pop up blocker extensions were enabled, ensured trust settings (such as clipboard and other individual settings) were allowed for the site in each browser. Issue persists. I searched through Forums and Bug Reports section of site looking for other suggestions, have tried everything previously suggested by staff.

Please note - I'm a new user on the site, so I'm not certain if there's a time period or minimum post count requirement that a new user must meet before being able to attach/upload media to their posts.

Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide. I'm happy to grab snippets out of Page Source/Dev Tools if that can help as well. Thank you!

I have changed the permissions so that newly registered users can upload attachments.

I think you indeed have a minimum of post numbers due to bot spamming the site has undergone a couple of weeks / months ago.

But the number should be small (don't remember if it's 1, 3 or 5) so you probably can create a few trade and then be able to add the image after.

I think it's enough with 1 approved post in the main forum.

This post itself was approved, so it should already work now if you try again @Parallel, since this was your first post (outside of the trade forum).

We were heavily hit with spam attacks from AI spam bots a while back, constant new topic spamming, that we had to make a rule that newly registered users are placed in a separate role with limited access, like that posts in the main forum requires moderator approval. Once the user has made one approved post in the main forum, they are moved to the regular user role with normal access - which also allows image uploading.

Unfortunately, if we were to lift this restriction, there would only be a matter of time before we are hit by another spam wave. The spammers are using AI bots that manage to bypass all spam detections, and they come from variety of IP addresses from all over the world - the only thing that finally worked was the restricted user role on registration that requires post approval. Once they hit that wall they basically stopped trying.

Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Do try to upload an image again and let us know if it still isn't working.

@Teebling perhaps we can add a little info message on the new trade listing form that explains that images aren't possible to upload for newly registered accounts until they have posted on the main forum first? The way it works right now it's just confusing to new members when they hit a brick wall and there's no indication of why it's not working. (unless there already is something like that? but perhaps it would need to be clearer or more visible in that case?)

Thank you all! Yes, I can confirm after making this initial post that I'm now able to upload media/attachments to my trade posts

I appreciate your responses.
