I have been a little bit curious about how much "peeking " of an unidentified item the Chronicle from RotW may provide, and I think I have a better idea now.
For the last couple of days, I have managed to find Nokozan Relic twice, Saracen's Chance once, and Mara's Kaleidoscope once.
For all these amulets, each fresh find for the very first time qualified for the Chronicles.
After getting an item for the first time, any following drop won't qualify anymore. This is expected, clearly demonstrated by my 2nd Nokozan Relic drop.
Now if you already found a Mara's Kaleidoscope or a SOJ once, then the following unique amulets and rings that are labelled as Chronicle worthy are surely not them.

Yes, I noticed that. When you ID an item there's a flash indicating the item's ID'd, and then it's off to thrift store for any future finds of that same item. Keep in mind that there is still some bugginess going on with that label.
I've had it not show as eligible, then switch game, then be eligible again, then have it disappear again, on the same item, with multiple items, ... I wouldn't rely on that tooltip for anything.
That said, even if it did work reliably, for most things it'd be a novelty at best as the odds of finding all valuable amulets/rings before you find the crap ones are...let's say low. Unless you run with multiple accounts and go in reverse to "pre-screen your way there". But that just doesn't seem worth it even for the most annoying of ripping-offing aholes.
Plus if you spend any significant amount of time with folks in public games, they'll break it for you before long anyways. ^^

That's due to folks converting them from expansion, meaning you know it is any of the other 7 and definitely not a warlock.
Beyond that, the chronicle doesn't help with that one though, thankfully, as there is only one torch entry and not one per class.
