I'm currently considering getting back to D2:R after a long hiatus. (I'm afraid of the addicting power this game have over me )
How does the LoD - > RoW conversion works? Does the game create a copy of the character that now works with RoW and keeps the old one playable without the new stuff? (Like branching timelines)
Do steam achievments work for single player? (Asking because there are many hero editors out there. How would this work for the lvl 99 hardcore character?)
Is the chronicle working properly for you? I've seen some people reporting items not being registered.
I play SSF exclusively and hero editors are great for creating mules and transfering items between characters. I've used the OG Hero Editor. Is there a hero editor that already works with RoW that you recommend for my purposes?
For people who play SSF, is there any way of backing up your Chronicle? It would be a shame to lose it to a faulty drive or something like that.

Reign of the Warlock has segmented partitions between three distinct eras: Diablo II Classic, Diablo II: Resurrected, and Diablo II: Reign of the Warlock.
Your current characters exist on each partition, meaning that you can have the same character on each era that are safely separate from each other and won’t be affected by your actions in the other eras.
I got the impression that you would get two separate versions of your character. One for the RotW and the old, original one. And you could still keep playing the old one if you wanted to, like an alternate, LoD timeline.
But I can't seem to confirm this anywhere else and from all Youtube videos I've watched, it doesn't seem like this note on the Blizz News is true at all. But it just be that no one is going for that in any YT video and there is a hidden-in-the-UI way of playing the old LoD ("expansion") version.
If any one who owns RotW could confirm this, I would be grateful!

There's only one version of each character. Once you hit the convert button on a D2R character it becomes a RotW character, it cannot be converted back and there's only a single version of it that's only playable on RotW.
There's a note further down in the same article you linked:

I'm in CET (Central European Time)
My profile says Ladder, but I play bothLadder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play bothSoftcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.
Holy Grail Death Count: 1
you can CREATE a char in any of Diablo II Classic, Diablo II: Resurrected, and Diablo II: Reign of the Warlock.
And you can "promote" any char in 1 direction (classic->D2R->RotW)
But you can't duplicate a char, or promote and keep a char., at least not within BNet...

Yes. Which seems to contradict the:

That's why I wondered about if someone could actually test it in-game. Maybe look for some button buried in the UI or something.
In case someone confirms that the partition thing is actually false: maybe is there a workaround by handling the pre-Conversion .d2s character file?
