Need Some Help - Somehow Blizzard Didnt Retain My Characters - Your Assistance Requested

I have love the world of first, Diablo (which I bought and started on the first day of release, and Diablo 2 (same. I played D2 for five consecutive years, and then off and on, last time in about 2020. At that point, work and family issues took over all my time. In later years, I also spent substantial time with Diablo 3 (unfortunately) and Diablo 4 (disappointing). But nothing has come close to what great games Diablo and Diablo2 are. And so I was very excited by the news a new expansion, and new life in the game. I know Blizzard retains your characters for a long time (I was able to access mine in WOW after eight years) but for whatever reason, I was terribly disappointed to find out, after buying the D2 Infernal Edition, that my characters and all of their gear are gone forever.

I'll admit outright that building new characters from scratch is not necessarily what I enjoy the most. Playing higher level and endgame content is. So, I'm now left to build characters from scratch, which is something I can, and have done, obviously. However, I plan to build a

Whirlwind barb, and a bowazon. It literally took me years and years originally in D2, to get truly worthwhile equipment. I cant go through that again, knowing how rare good drops are in D2, and, apparently continuing in the D2 Resurrection and expansion game. I lost some great gear that I'll never replace, including a couple legendaries. Not to mention wagon loads of

Gold and gems and other things.

So, I am asking for a bit of help. Would any of you top level D2 players possibly be kind enough to help me put by gifting me with a really nice sword from your inventory, and a really nice bow (transferable, obviously) that you have in the stash but aren't using? I'm fine making all the effort to build my way up to a high level character IF I at least know that I will have a quality weapon for that character when I reach a high enough level. If you have anything else to spare, it would also be greatly welcomed. I'm honestly not asking for anything I haven't done many times in the past. I've generously helped out people with equipment countless times in D1, D2, D3, and D4. I've even done my best to almost completely outfit people in need when I had the gear. Hopefully the good karma returns for me.

Without some help, given the disappointment of losing my characters and everything they owned, I'm not sure if returning to playing D2 is in the cards for me. Thank you.
