That was a bit of hyperbole. I'm not keeping every low rune to cube all 36 bajillion El's to a Zod. I still pick them up because I can remember a time when seeing a Sol drop was a big deal.Ronin777 wrote: 1 day agoDude, never keep El to Ith. Tal is pretty much the first rune that has any trade value, anything below that you need, you can farm from countess normal if you need one for a runeword. Otherwise not worth it since upgrading is 3:1 ratio. YOu need over 700 Els to get 1 Tal and that is worth what 1/25-1/30th of an Ist?

20? i've literally yet to see 1 (and i've been playing since release back in 1999-2000).... lol a bajillion.... altho you're not far wrong. Apparently to cube an El--> Zod is a googleplex (takes more space than is available in the entire game, and assuming you had the space for them all will take more than a human lifespan to complete.
3^20 El = 3 486 784 401 El to get a Pul
2^12 Pul = 4096 Pul to get a Zod
14 281 868 906 496 El to get a Zod
(if I'm not wrong)
2^12 Pul = 4096 Pul to get a Zod
14 281 868 906 496 El to get a Zod

I sell flawless at 20:1 at worst and 12:1 at best, and Ame is 8:1. All of them are better than 30-50:1. And unlike Flawless, runes clutter alot since there's like 20 low value runes before you get to things like Um, Mal, Ist where they are worth the space they take. I dont consider hording half a stash tab for 1 Ist item, good value. And until you get 3 of one rune, you cant upgrade to reduce clutter. I only gather flawed+ which is like 3 interim items before Perfect, and even that is too much clutter for me.leox wrote: 1 day agoI remember someone will buy 30 - 50 El with Ist.
very low tier rune have value, it is more than flawless gems that you need 3 to get 1 perfect and 60 to 20 Perfect Gems.
Think about that, low runes are slightly better than flawless gems . worth pick up

My point is it is 0.33 Perfect Gems per pick up vs low runes 0.5 Perfect Gems per pick.
And I understand your worry that you are thinking about space. That make sense. it is like you store whole char of Perfect Gems.
Some people doesnt like that.

These days, I don't need that much Perfect Skull, it is less encourage to pay in Perfect Skull but it will treat slightly better than Perfect Gems.

Good morning to you, tooDarth_Craig wrote: 2 days agoGood morning diablo 2 brethren.
I am legitimately curious about the trade economy - i see in forums all the time "bro, thats GG, easily 10+ Jah".
This begs the question - is this just a reference point to illustrate an item's value relative to something people associate with high value? Or, do big time players literally just walk around with a box full of Jah's?
Concerning your question, you might also be interested to check the thread "A question to the filthy rich"

There's also the problem of finding people to trade. I dont know how its like on ladder but in non-ladder, i dont think ive ever met a guy who buys Els. Occasionally you'll find someone who wants Tals or Rals, but PGems are very quick trades. I dont have to waste hours trying to find one low trade for obscure rune trade, while i could easily trade PGems, and spend the rest of the time selling high rune trades like bases and uniques. I guess if you are very very poor, i mean if even 1 Ist is very valuable to you, this might be an option, then again, i think gathering Keys and Gems(i think Chaos Sanctuary is great for that) is still more efficient for getting Wealth.
You can find bulk trades for basically any low rune on trading sites, so it’s possible to both sell and buy, but sure, it might not be so easy to find anyone to trade with in-game.

Do I have some high runes and gg stuff? Yes.
Do I have 200 Jah runes? No.
This is not the wealth I'm striving for.
I have 20 heroes, each of them has been played from act 1 normal to act 5 hell with selffound items only. I would never delete one of them, because every hero/heroine has his/her own story. I know the game by heart, I mostly play non-meta builds, I seek for a challenge and friendly, chilled people to play with cooperatively or just roam around solo and see what will happen. Those ridiculous runs in which all people rush like crazy isn't for me. In my view, those guys are missing a lot while reducing this game to bare numbers.
Life can't be planned, life wants to be lived.
Many of my heroes are themed builds: I have a fire-based Necromancer ( Fire Golem, Enchant-Ironwolf), a pure Armymancer, a Natalya's Odium Bladesin, a Charge/ Zeal hybrid Paladin wielding a huge two-handed sword, a pure support Singer-Barb (level 50 Bo, yay), a Zoo-Druid (Rogue merc for the win!) and my beloved Blaze- Demon Machine-Enchantress, a build that I've never seen anywhere else.
Of course I have a Nova-Sorc, a Javazon and a Hammerdin, but I don't play them very often, it's just too boring.
I would never use item shops and I don't care if a Jah rune is worth less than a dollar. Every self-found rune has personal, emotional value to me. And yes, those things drop, just play the game and it will happen. I found dozens of high runes during my Diablo career. Same is for trading. I don't trade much, just selling a good item here and there for some additional runes. Having gathered enough Ist runes for another high rune is very rewarding to me.
I only use selffound bases for my runewords, because the thrill of getting an exceptionally bad or good roll is part of the game. The game offers many options to improve equipment: Gambling, crafting, farming, socketing.
I'm proud to say that 99% of my stuff is selffound and selfmade.
Next ladder my wife and me are planning to start with two extraordinary sub-par builds: Fendzon (me) and Zoo-Druid (her). This will be challenging and fun! It will take several weeks for us to reach Baal on hell, but the experience we will gain, the stories we will encounter on our way, the obstacles waiting to be overcome and the final triumph of winning this hard game without rushing or other people's help are priceless.
In my view, I am rich.

Well, my sons are not the most "dedicated" players and "patience" is, at least in my estimation, not a big virtue of young boys (especially with my sons)
But I managed that we played all our Chars without rushes and got all waypoints (I only allowed using existing leveling gear like Nightsmoke, Tearhaunch, Skin of the Vipermagi, The Stone of Jordan and a few basic skillers beyond lvl 40). Of course it was way easier than completely selffound but at some points still a challenge in Hell - especially before Annihilus, Torch and Sunder Charms were available
)
We now have each four completely equipped chars and I bought some items, mostly skillers and a few good but not perfect small charms (e.g. 5MF/5AR or 3/15-18/15-18) and skillers for max 1 Jah each (e.g. +1 Skilltree/30-32 to life), to round them up. Most gear we use is selffound and not perfect. I also bought all our Call To Arms because you get get decent rolls like 4/4 or even 5/5 for a good price. I also wanted BO and BC at the same level because I am color blind and wearing of only one effect makes it hard for me to notice that. Therefore, I decided not to roll them myself.

Let's say this way, if there is a game that you need to pay 40 USD for it and 'work' hard to get value back by 0.4 per big find.
I think most people will say no. Why will I pay something and work on it? It is some how strange to me.
The other way I think it is better. A person doesnt have much time to farm engima but wana to enjoy Teleport. tiny bit makes it work. then yes, it is good.
But certainly, they pay 40 +1 USD for this old game just play 1 - 5 fight.
Some play pk , it is different world that I dont touch.
The trade focus mind, buying another account (which is unnecessarily for even family play), it is like you pay discount price 12 try to earn 24 Jah with that convenience. Maybe , it is work . But it is different game. it doesn't have anything to do with 10% char performance. in the end of your last few week of game play, it is meaningless. You either translate Jah into enjoyment or something you can use, not sit there like digital money, it is not bitcoin. It grow over time constantly.
And need for single player actually doesnt need much. full block, full resistance, 1300hp, engima, Infinity, charms torch , that's it.
Favor Perfect Amethyst over Perfect Skull...

I’ve never found a Jah rune, and it’s hard to imagine that someone has a full stash of Jah/ Ber runes, but I’ve only been playing for 6 months. In the beginning, I was really lucky and found an Assassin skiller with +45 life. Back then, I didn’t know it was that valuable, but someone here was kind enough to offer 10 Jah runes for it, so I managed to build up some Wealth in my first month. Since then, I haven’t found anything worth a Jah. I’m still collecting every single rune and pgem to trade for Ists, and I’m giving loads of semi-valuable items to new players.
Please check my FREE tab. I am always trying to get rid off stuff
I tend to keep about 100 Jah on hand, and 5-10 of Vex to Ber. This is to buy a good deal when I see it, or if I want to make a new build. I'll convert Jahs over this amount to 20/5 and 3/20/30 small charms to save space.
I'm willing to accept Token of Absolution, Keys, Perfect Gems, and certain minor runes ( Eth, Nef, Sol, Ral, Hel, Lem, Pul, Um) in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.
Short answer: Yes, I do, currently.
And also spent a lot of Jah s in the past.
(I have bought 1 perfect Annihilus and 1 perfect Pally Hellfire Torch in the good old inflated price days)

Before making an offer, plase add me on BattleNet
I have started playing exactly 3 years ago because my biggest son kept asking me to play a computer game with him and I chose D2R. By the time he got bored (it took 6 months), my other two kids joined me, and we finished the game with multiple characters on 3 family accounts by now, always playing together. Then I also completed the game from scratch with 3 old-time friends back from college days (it took half a year, only playing 6-8 hours per month with noobs). This was always a lot of fun, and there are only 4 runes left that I did not find myself: Zod, Jah, Ber, Vex. The way to obtain some high runes for me was mostly via trading (also takes time, especially to learn the values), and it is still a big thing if I can get a Jah or Ber in a trade. There is so little difference in performance between a perfect rolled item and a pretty good one that it may not make much of a difference. I guess it's more like how you feel about this, and whether you are a min/max type of person. I'm surprised how many people are, actually...
I don't think one can get rich by playing only a few hours each week or spending a similar amount of time on trading sites. Either you put in more time playing honestly, or... I wonder why nobody speaks about botters here? Running bots on multiple accounts 24/7 can make people rich I guess, and it may contribute to reducing the prices of GG items.
By the way, I also have a level 90 Demon Machine Enchantress with Blaze and Firewall (squishy because of no Energy Shield).

It's been talked about quite a bit in the past, and at this point it's... just an established fact that there are multiple botting groups with hundreds or even thousand(s) of bots each. Ladder market is flooded with high runes and valuable items mere days into each new ladder season, and that's the result of botters at work. First dclone walk of each season usually happens about 20-30 hours in on softcore, and a couple of days in on hardcore (unless one region was "primed" before reset and thus already at 4/6 or 5/6, then it can happen on day 1 even on hc), and that's also because of botters. Blizzard has banned bots, there were in fact multiple ban waves last year, but they didn't get all of the bot of course, not even close, and I suppose the botters just keep coming back. If you look for public Baal games on ladder you will often see ones named after a known RMT site. There are multiple RMT sites for D2R, spamming advertisements in the lobby chat or whispering people with advertisements. The items on those sites are supplied by bots. So yes, bots are prevalent in D2R. However, I don't think there's much small scale botting (not that I know, just a feeling I have).DarkSoul48 wrote: 9 hours ago... I've been playing for ~10 months and my Wealth is around 200 Jah, mostly in items. I don't find pleasure in looking at a mule full of HRs so whenever I have enough Jah I buy new stuff. I try to not overpay but I also try to not screw anyone over. That way you don't decrease your Wealth by trading.
Only a small fraction of this Wealth comes from finding HRs or valuable uniques. I only found 1 Ber and 1 Jah. Never found a Vex, Ohm, Sur or Zod.
When I started, I made a sorc (my favorite) and farmed some keys. Then I made an Uber smiter and farmed Ubers 100+ times. At the end, it took only like 6 minutes but every run is worth an Ist on ladder if you buy Key sets and sell the torches unid. Buying keys always took the longest.
That was basically the foundation.
I also sell a lot bases. Many things can fetch Pul- Ist. You can see from my account that I have been quite active trading here.
I made several runewords. People pay for knowing the end result. If you make like 10 CTA and sell all of them at market price, you will make a profit. I literally made hundreds of spirits. Rerolled anything that wasn't 35fcr. If you roll a perfect one, those are worth a lot.
I started doing this because I am too lazy to mule all the small runes so I just used my Tal thul Ort Amn which I The Countess gave me while farming hate keys.
Same goes for crafting. If you craft and know what you are doing, you will also make a profit. People pay for the certainty and the time needed to buy crafting material, cubing, and keeping inventory.
Here again I did not start this to make a profit but because I love using self made stuff and I always wanted to make a 2/20 sorc amu. I should be around 3000-4000 Caster Amulet rolls but no "luck" so far. I got some other nice hits though, several that are worht single or double digits in Jah runes.
We also had a small group of Larzuk Runners. We took turns and one rushed a couple of mules to A5. Takes around 15-20 minutes with a good runner and every socket quest is worth ~ Ist if you decide to sell them.
For those who want to get rich fast: You can shop 3/20 gloves. Those sell for Jah. It just takes like 3-4 hours on average. Not my cup of tea but probably better than collecting Ral runes for 40 hours.
To answer your question in short: Yes - but not (only) by farming and hoping to find those runes myself but by trading and doing different things that I enjoy doing and a worth something to other players.

I am using this thingy to cast a fully synergized level 18 Energy Shield. It's a quite solid solution to my non-existent resistances and saves a lot of skill points.DarkSoul48 wrote: 9 hours agoBy the way, I also have a level 90 Demon Machine Enchantress with Blaze and Firewall (squishy because of no Energy Shield).
