Description
Hi, I am trying to farm the travincial on my trapsin. I have a Harlequin Crest with Ist for MF, a Crescent Moon Runeword for -res, a lightning sunder to break immunes, and +16 traps with my claw off-hands. However, I have a really inconsistent time killing the Council.
Some times, I place my traps and most of the council will die in a few seconds, save the unique guys. They take a little while, but with a Death Sentry they're pretty quick. On the other hand, it seems like all the councilors are lightning immune on half of my runs and it takes forever to hurt them with my lightning sentries. I just skip these games. Are trav immunities random? Each spawn they're what ever rng feels like?
The second question I have is where to place traps? I was searching youtube if someone made a guide for this already but didn't see. I place my traps in the first outdoor corner on the patio to kill councilors outside the travincial building. Then when these are cleared, I stand beside the third column of the patio on the south, and place my traps on the inside left window of the travincial building to kill the council inside. I just eat Hydra fireballs with Fade and wait for the traps to kill everyone. However, sometimes the traps don't go on the patio or in the building, instead they get placed all around the pillars and the pillars will block the lightning sentries from killing stuff. Is there a better sentry placement? Is it better to just run in and throw traps and kite everyone?
edit: I bought more fire resistance for my blizzard sorceress and she is 1 hitting the whole council except for the icefist unique, he takes 5 seconds to kill. This is in contrast to using lightning trap which takes 2-3 minutes assuming none of the monsters are lightning immune. I am back to the drawing board on what to do with my LS sin -- she kills pindle super fast at least.

Can be used to make Runewords:

why make it harder? farm with your sorc lol.
OP
I had found a Hellfire Torch and thought that my sin would kill them faster than my blizzard sorceress. On the other hand I just picked up a nightwing veil yesterday, so maybe my sorc can kill the council now.
I don't have full resistance on my blizzard sorceress, so it is quite a bit more difficult to clear it. I just kite the council into the blizzard and Dodge the zealot's lightning attacks and the Hydra fireballs.
out of curiosity went to try Travincal with my trapsin, she kill every Council Member with 2 hits for the normal ones and 3 or 4 for the unique ones, and she is carrying a cristal sword with 6 shitty light facets, only does -19 to enemy lighting resistances and +20 to lightning damage trap hits 1-10k.
my inventory is still missing like 5 trap charms.

Do you use a merc? If so, is the merc equipped with an Infinity? From what I read in your post it doesn't look like. I suggest you Concentrate on investing in Infinity first. You'd see a world of improvement in clearing Travincal. As it stands you should try killing weak lightning immunes with Fire Blast and place a Death Sentry nearby a Fallen one. Then continue with corpse path as they quickly fall. Uniques won't last long after a few explosions either. As your character level is unknown, it's hard to say on the Fire Blast power available. For example, my level 93 trapsin got Fire Blast total level of 34 (base 15) at 2990-3553 fire damage. Granted, the ethereal Giant Thresher base Infinity on my merc helps a lot too.
If you like stress-free Travincal runs, consider a Concentrate Barbarian with The Rising Sun amulet. And Act 2 merc with Guardian Angel and The Reaper's Toll.
You don't even have to think, just left-click until it's over.

Frenzy/Zerker barb with horking still the best build for Trav runs if you ask me. Assuming you're doing it for the loot, which is why I'd assume most people are doing it.
Not every build is meant to do everything in the game well either. I wouldn't use that Barb build for Cows and I wouldn't use a lightning sorc for Trav runs.

is trav any good? I have farmed it in my route for a long time and never got anything good, just some sh1t runes and Gold.
Give your A2 merc a The Reaper's Toll, Guardian Angel, and Kira's Guardian, and he will almost never die (usually only if there is Conviction aura on a boss) Infinity is overrated here IMO and not needed, the Decrepify proc weakens the council a lot, the merc survives, and you kill them quickly!
Usually looking for Runes, Essences, PGems, Tokens, Keys, etc.

It's my favorite TZ easily, but probably won't get you the best odds on runes and top end gear. That's not to say I haven't gotten great stuff there, but I think it's usually hit or miss. I always get plenty of gems and Gold though, so even if I don't get sick items in a TZ hour, I got something. I have popped a Jah there and a few other HRs, plenty of facets and other uniques that are very rare, as well as charms of course. I do run it a lot though, and I do it with my WW barb so I'm horking the bodies for more loot.MintBlancmanche wrote: 1 month agois trav any good? If you are looking for top loot it's always gonna be TZ Andariel or TZ Mephisto, IMO. TZ Trav also doesn't give much XP, so there's that. For runes, you'd likely be better off elsewhere as well, maybe the Pit or Chaos Sanctuary. The beauty of Trav for me is it's quick and simple, and you get a lot of quick loot chances, and almost always walk away with something, even if it's just a flawless gem or two.

heard andy/mepho are shit since they are low level, better kill diablo / Baal, they have given me all the Jah/ Ber runes.justinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's my favorite TZ easily, but probably won't get you the best odds on runes and top end gear. diablo dropped nightwing veil and Death fathom on Baal.
He's talking about TZ andy/meph. They give best drop in game like any other TZ boss.
My timezone is CET/UTC+1.
Death Sentry only functions better if you manage to have corpses around to trigger the corpse explosions. Otherwise Lightning Sentry deals much more dmg, but adding the Corpse Explosion to it just makes things faster.
I always cast max lightning traps and replace one or two with the explodey Death traps. Works fine.

You can get lots of XP from TZ trav. There's 6-8 elite pack spawns, so therefore you can potentially spawn 6-8 elite packs before even spawning the council members, which = alot of potential XP. And this is much easier done in an area like Trav vs Catacombs or Durance, because it's much smaller, has a static layout, and doesnt have trash mobility for nonteleporting characters. Not to mention the speedy clear time for builds that excel here makes XP gain per hour way better than other zones for those builds.justinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's my favorite TZ easily, but probably won't get you the best odds on runes and top end gear. TZ Andy is objectively superior to Diablo/ Baal (TZ or not) in terms of drops. You have to look at Risk to Reward ratio here.MintBlancmanche wrote: 1 month agoheard andy/mepho are shit since they are low level, better kill diablo / Baal, they have given me all the Jah/ Ber runes.justinman114 wrote: 1 month agoIt's my favorite TZ easily, but probably won't get you the best odds on runes and top end gear. diablo dropped nightwing veil and Death fathom on Baal.
If both are TZ the drops will be basically the same, negligible difference. However the amount of time and effort it takes to farm CS or WSK vs Andy is a big factor in drops per hour. The difficulty level of CS/WSK, particularly for underpowered/undergeared characters, is alot more punishing than TZ Andy. Much higher risk to ones character for the same reward, and this is all the more important on HC.
TLDR: Risk to reward ratio makes TZ Andy superior to CS & WSK in terms of drops. If we're talking grinding XP that's a different discussion.

Even if you play sc nl, TZ andy is still hold rank 1 position . TZ is slightly win Baal in drop runes rate, that most unique is not worth so much in nlsc.BigD wrote: 1 month agoTZ Andy is objectively superior to Diablo/ Baal (TZ or not) in terms of drops. But still better in all ways in normal tz vs Baal(tz or not) . That Baal Key Stone monsters cost too much time . In old days, Baal might drop green essence that can cover loss of time, but this doesn't enough today.
I my opinion, farm rank probably looks like this.
TZ Andy
TZ Trav
TZ others popular zone, pit
TZ Baal
TZ diablo
TZ difficult zone
Regular Baal
Regular Diablo
I wasn't sure about normal andy that I seldom visit her when it is not tz. Top 3 is depends on luck, massive run , I think only TZ andy hold rank1 others may change.
Favor Perfect Amethyst over Perfect Skull...
These days, I don't need that much Perfect Skull, it is less encourage to pay in Perfect Skull but it will treat slightly better than Perfect Gems.

what risk? is your character a shitter that gets killed by souls or whatever on your way to Baal? I only die if I stand still on top of a nasty group for a few seconds ( Fanaticism/extra strong/fast) etc.
