Not entirely sure what the question really is or what "search engine" aspect you're looking at specifically but generally speaking, input = output.
E.g. if you're browsing the unique items and looking for Tyrael's Might, you could enter "tyrael" and ignore the apostrophe entirely as partial matches suffice. Or you could enter "tyrael's", including the apostrophy, as it matches and returns the correct result. What you can't do of course is use ` instead of ' and the like as many people sometimes do as you'd then be creating a mismatch and not getting the result you want.
Same thing tends to hold true for trade search, forum search and the like.
Though if you're looking for a user post, it obviously boils down to whether they used ' or ` or whatever. Common mistakes = easy mismatch = search failing.
