Does anyone know if the 1/5 reduction of -enemy resists on immunes rounds up/down?

In LoD, most calculations truncated decimals. Not usually a big deal, but broken immunities is one example where it could be. A -4% facet, for instance, would not be any help against broken immunes on its own. Hypothetically, that rounding error would cost you 1/6 DPS against sundered immunes.

This could be relevant for Poison necros that use
Death's Web
and
Lower Resist
curse. You'd want them to sum to a multiple of five. Same for Infinity/Griff/Facet lightning builds. Flickering Flame is another biggy.

Anybody know?

Facets do not suffer the 1/5 effectiveness penalty. Any -res that is found on gear, including facets, always work at full effect, as long as the immunity is broken in any way (whether conventionally or with a sunder charm) - i.e., it either works at full effect (vs broken/sundered immunities), or not at all.

It's only skills that suffer the 1/5 effectiveness;
Conviction
,
Lower Resist
,
Cold Mastery
. And in the case of
Cold Mastery
, it's only if the enemy's immunity is sundered.

As for the question itself, it's rounded down. Though, it's only relevant for
Lower Resist
since the -res from both
Cold Mastery
and
Conviction
is always a multiple of 5.

OP
Oh ok, I was way off base. Had no idea gear was not impacted by the 1/5 reduction. Thanks!

Wait, is it really true that
Cold Mastery
has full effect on not sundre broken cold immune enemys?

So if I have -100% cold ressi from
Cold Mastery
, it would be better to have no cold sundre for a monster with 140% cold ressi?
WIth sundre: 95% broken cold ressi - 100%/5 = 75% cold ressi
Without sundre: 140% cold ressi - 100% = 60%

No - let me clarify. If the monster is still immune,
Cold Mastery
has no effect at all (just like -res on gear).

There is one special case where immunity is broken in the traditional way (Conviction / Lower Resist), then Cold Mastery applies at full effect unlike when the immunity is sundered via Cold Rupture.

So;
(EDIT: the below paragraph is largely irrelevant after my corrections above, but I'm leaving it here...)

Granted, it's very rare to break a cold immunity without
Cold Rupture
, as most cold immune monster don't simply have 100% cold resistance, they typically have 150% or something which is unbreakable in the traditional way. The max immunity you can break with
Conviction
+
Lower Resist
without sunder is 142% (because 150/5 + 65/5 = 43). That's if you have both effects, and
Lower Resist
needs to be level 26+. Yes,
Lower Resist
theoretically goes all the way to -70% but that takes a skill level of 60...

EDIT: Made some corrections. Apologies for the initial misinformation! :(

Actually, I'm going to have to correct myself. It did work like that before sunder charms existed, but upon further investigation, I realized that the change that made
Cold Mastery
work at 1/5 effect vs sundered enemies also meant that same reduced effectiveness applies vs immunities that were broken "traditionally". I've edited my post above. Apologies! :(

No problem 😉

The rules changed a lot over time and sometimes we confuse them 😉 (if I remembering correctly, on the first patches of Sunders,
Cold Mastery
works at full after sunder which proved to be broken 🤔🤓)

Yes, for the first season/patch that had sunder charms,
Cold Mastery
worked at full effect vs sundered enemies (as well as against monsters whose immunity was broken via traditional means).

Then the next patch changed it so that it only worked at 1/5 effect vs any broken cold immunity, regardless if it was broken via sunder charm or via
Conviction
/
Lower Resist
.

Non-ladder never had sunder charms during the patch where
Cold Mastery
worked at full effect, as terror zones and sunder charms were ladder-only for the first season.
