Description

I'm just now discovering that I cannot use my snipping tool while in-game. It does not seem to matter if I'm in fullscreen or windowed mode, it just takes a screenshot of the entire screen instead of activating my snipping tool.

It's not a big deal, just creates extra steps when posting a trade with an image.

Anyone been able to solve this? Am I just overthinking it?

I managed to work it out on Win 10 and Win 11, but then I downloaded and started using Greenshot, and I;m glad I did. I have it set with a different series of Hot Keys for different types of captures. For a controlled area capture I just need to hit ctrl+alt+r. You an also choose to save in jpeg or PNG, for a smaller files size jpeg is best. It's a clean app with no ads.

OP
Thanks for the reply!

Any chance you remember how to fix it on Windows 11? I'm not really interested in downloading any additional software unfortunately.

Did you try pressing windows
Key
+shift+S ? that should allow you to select the area you want to capture.

This doesn't do anything for me at all oddly enough.

Go to start and look in your apps for snipping tool. You might have to choose All at the top right, then scroll down until you find snipping tool, right click, then choose more, app settings, scroll until you see repair and reset. You can try one or both of those to see if it helps, but the win
Key
+shift+S pressed simultaneously should've given you the option for area snip. It just worked for me in Win 11.

I have two screens, so what I do is focus something on the other screen, hit Print Screen, and then snip from the D2 screen. That actually does work (and you can still get item details by hovering over it, too.)

I've been trying everything I can think of to get it workin' right. About to just move on and grab that app from earlier in the thread.

Don't feel bad, the net is filled with people who're unhappy with Win 11 Snipping tool, and are even calling it a downgrade from the Win 10 version. I prefer to use open source freeware like Greenshot that not only works, but provides several options that Snipping tools doesn't have.

Since you seem persistent, you can always download it from Microsoft and try a reinstall. Note that security apps, like antivirus programs and firewall applications, can sometimes be the reason Snipping Tool doesn't work.
