Description

So it's kinda a simple question. I have a 10 year old Dell and for reasons unimportant, I can't use it right now. I can play WoW and emus for Dreamcast on it (tested successfully). Because my Nintendo Switch subscription is expiring in May, and my Credit Card is on hold, and I can't go to the bank (for the same unimportant reasons) I won't be reactivating my card. So I did a Google search and the AI told me if I can play WoW, D2R should also run with no errors/crashing. I'm planning on buying another laptop but that is going to be a dedicated server. So like ... What you guys suppose? I know every game has its own system requirements but D2R isn't the most intensive graphics?

Don't remember. Again I won't have access to it for some time. The only way I can convey its speed is that it can run most early 2000 emus like ps2/DC and plays WoW.

I don't think it will work.
I'm pretty sure your system won't meet the requirement.

Emulator is about CPU while native video games are way more about GPU than CPU.
And a 10 years old random laptop is very likely to have no graphic card.

Okay! Thanks for the heads up! Guess eventually I'll have to put down D2R.

Download a copy of CPU-Z, run it and take screenshot of the CPU,mainboard, and Graphics screen, and upload it. Save your screenshots as jpg. That will let us know what your specs are, and yes the application is safe. The link is below.

I tried to get D2r running on a Thinkpad T530 with a GPU (NVS 5400m). I couldn't get it to run, despite a lot of research. Bottom line is: You need a device, which supports Directx12.

Warcraft3 Reforged runs without problems. It's not about the power of the hardware, but the Directx support.

Cheers!

Just started again after 22y. Thanks to the generosity of players - from this site and on Bnet - I'm having a good restart

True, but I would like to see if he has any open PCI-Express ports and what the speed is. All he might need is a new graphics card.

Worse, it's only about OFFICIAL directX support.
During the playtest, it worked just fine to play D2R on earlier windows and DX, but they specifically blocked that later for whatever hyperdumb reason.

IIRC, you just needed to borrow a file from Warcraft 3, put it in the D2R directory to make it work. So, ridiculously and obviously stupid nonsense.

But it still prevents it from working unfortunately.

It's kinda a silly supposition. Though, what if I get an emulator that runs D2R, eg. Xbox, PS4/5, Switch and then download the ROM? It wouldn't then be system configuration but system power...?

Someone mentioned that your PC is a laptop? If it's a 10 year old laptop then there isn't much room for upgrading, but if it's a Desktop then it depends on its configuration. I built the computer I have now 9 years ago and D2r doesn't even come close to challenging it.

System power is about system hardware.
Your laptop won't be able to run a PS4 emulated D2R .
But you can give try if you want.

Okay... I think when I get a dedicated comp and then choose from the mods. This will turn out better as there are better mods for pre-D2R than post-D2. Although obsolete there are amazing mods much better than D2R (considered as a Mod) and possibly more stable (especially on a decade old laptop) than intense graphics; D2R.
