Description

I just finished a run collecting organs to open Uber Tristram. Forgotten Sands and Furnace of Pain went as usual but when I got to the Matron's Den I entered the Twilight Zone. Lilith is usually hiding in a sort of cul de sac, a closed off room at the Edge of the map. Lilith usually isn't all that hard to find because when you approach her location she generally announces herself by throwing up a fuss with a circle of poison spray, but this time there was nothing. So I opened my map and according to the map image every room was accounted for, I hadn't missed a single area. I always make certain I visit every closed room, and yet still no Lilith, so I took a screenshot. Then I ran the entire map again checking each closed room. When I finally found her, according to my map it was in what appeared to be a previously visited closed room, and she was surrounded by her minions. I've done numerous Ubers over the last 2 plus years and I can't see how according to the finished map image, that I came so close to Lilith without her initiating an attack, and yet that's what seems to have happened. Has anyone else ever experienced this??

Usually when I get close to Lilith she starts throwing a fuss before I even enter the room.

I believe something similar happened to me before with the exception that Lilith turned out to be not in a dead end room, but in a short corridor that I managed to go around using other paths, so on the map it looked visited, when in reality it wasn't. I must have passed her fast enough she didn't manage to sense my character presence.

Jumpscare Lilith should be the standard!;D
Smaller map, but you would have to walk it full and then in the darkest room... BAM! She's right next to you and you're already poisoned and barely having any HP.
Also in tribute to Diablo1 nearest wall goes down and behind it are four machine gun squads of demonic, flying bit**esXD

In response.. Lightning Bolt you to the face!
2026: Show me your Hephasto and I'll tell what kind of man you are.

Happens often enough if you just tele through and disappear too fast for her to react.

Can happen while running as well albeit far less likely since you're taking longer to get in and out.

She simply doesn't always immediately start her poisony light show with 0 delay. :)

When I run the Matron's Den I don't Teleport because I like to farm for items and runes as well as Keys. On this particular run I had literally done a clean sweep of everything standing and was running the map unopposed looking for Lilith. When I finally located her she was in a room I had previously examined or passed near, and this time Lilith and minions left the room where they were to confront me. At that point I began to wonder if the game isn't rigged to delay spawning some locations like The Forgotten Tower, and unique monsters as a delay tactic.

I use Enigma on my Smiter. I probably just tele'd away to fast from the room being focused on the mini map before I saw her or before she could call me a maggot. Now I just take my time and slap some corrupted rouges and succubi around with Zeal clearing rooms until I find her using Teleport sparingly.

Monster detection range is defined by your light radius, base value being 13 I believe. Maybe if you wear a bunch of -1light radius items and use Nadir + Cloak of Shadows you can mimic that sneak event?

In original D2 light radius affected monster detection range, but in Diablo 2 Resurrected it only affects the the range of light around the char in dark areas.
