I'm curious. diablo2 is obvious, but where did the [.io] come from? Did you create that extension anew, and why [.io]?

Can be used to make Runewords:

Near perfect roll = One point short of a Perfect roll
Great roll = Two points short of a Perfect roll
Any roll more than 2 points away from a Perfect roll gets no special recognition.
Don't know where it comes from in this context but interestingly enough:
The top level domain belongs to the "British Indian Ocean Territory" which was controlled by the UK. But this october the UK government announce that "it would hand over sovereignty over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius" so following ICANN rules the TLD should be "phased out" sometime in the next few years.
Edit: Wikipedia on this issue: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.io#Phasing_Out

OP
You're right, that is interesting ... and I have no Idea what it means, LOL. Another one of those questions that have no easy answer, I guess.
Edit:
I see it now. [.io] is the country code for the British Indian Ocean Territory. But I'm still curious about why it was chosen.
Google AI shows:
the British Indian Ocean Territory
[. io] is a country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) for the Chagos Archipelago, assigned to the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). However, it has become a generic domain and is popular in the tech world since Io or I/O means input/output in computer science. Each of them serves a specific purpose.

Everything has been mentioned already tbh, it's a weird British overseas territory domain that people use for the input/output reference. I did see the news about Chagos Islands and how that may affect the . Io domain in the future. Hopefully it is not discontinued and instead becomes a new TLD vanity domain, or alternatively, becomes wholly owned by Chagosians and they get income from it from registrations etc.
.io is a very common extension among our computer nerds. It is short and cool. but my new favoriate is .dev extension.
It was so common back days, it was like what you have today for .ai domain extension.
so, other than it is cool extension and available to website dev at the time, I dont think there was any other reason behind the choice.
and btw, .io is not cheap.
