Dark Elder is found in the Lost City of Act Two, often near the trap door down to the Ancient Tunnels. He is always Extra Fast and Magic Resistant, and can move pretty well... for a Zombie.

In D2R, Dark Elder received a visual upgrade, giving him some tattered robes & a hood over the normal zombies. This appears to be the first (if not only) instance where a superunique based on an existing monster type receives unique art. Here we can see it up-close with a normal Zombie in a similar pose:
