Description

Apologies, I’m newer to d2r.
I just completed the game with a guided leveling build on an assassin.
I started with
Wake of Fire
then transition to lighting/
Death Sentry
.

Now I’m 75+ and ready to spec into my endgame build.

I really enjoyed WoF but I also love physical damage type of attacks. Is a WoF BladeSin hybrid a viable option?

My gesr isnt the greatest right now.
Tal
rashas
Helm

Smoke armor
Spirit dim
Blade

Ancients pledge shiped but have 4os
Monarch
for Spirit
I do have magefists
Natalyas
Boots
but I have several options.
I have a few different
Belt
options. Verdungos is what i was keeping for this build.
Manalds heal/nagel ring
Cat eye amulet.

Can be used to make Runewords:

As so often, that depends on what you mean by "viable". :)

Blade Fury
and WoF in and by themselves can absolutely be used to clear hell so they're viable in that sense. Though both do suffer against immunes, so long as you don't have a sunder yet.

Combining both would help against the respective immunes but will also inevitably make at least one of them significantly weaker than it would otherwise be as you simply won't have enough skill points to max all of their synergies. That's true even at lvl 99 but especially true at your level.

If your general desire is merely to combine traps with more active gameplay, rather than specifically having your heart set on WoF, a
Death Sentry
bladesin would generally work far better.
Unlike WoF, DS is quite the 1pt. wonder. More points certainly help for true screen clearing as it ups the radius but the synergies really aren't that important. One ups shot count which is nice but not critical, the other ups light dmg which is irrelevant if you use it to support your blading via the exploding. Even if you want to aim for max range and do include some support points in shadow disciplines, you can basically finish that build up by lvl 79.
DS would effectively act as an area support. You'd bladesin your way to the first couple kills and then your Death sentries take over after hitting a critical mass in corpses and just blow up the entire screen.
That actually does leave you with a perfectly viable build overall.

Hi, I love sin and my assassins are always "kinda" hybrid, because I add single points from other skill trees. The easiest assassin is the trap one, but it is always either fire or lightning.

Currently I am running a
Blade Fury
physical sin and I have no points in fire and only 1 point in
Death Sentry
. I would say the investment in skill points for this build leaves no room for traps. The thing with assassins is that if you try to split the points in multiple trees, you will get two mediocre types of damage, that will not help you.

I personally add a point in
Cobra Strike
and
Dragon Flight
when playing trap, so I can restore my mana and get some physical action. It is easy and fun, I suggest you try that. Also always get
Death Sentry
, they are like
Corpse Explosion
for necro - even with one point they kill a lot.

OP
Thanks for the replies. I decided full out bladesin with the
Death Sentry
to tackle those immunes.

Sad to see wof go, as I love that skill but I think I’ll like blades much more!

Wake of Fire
becomes viable again when you make Flickering Flame and get a fire sunder
