Thoughts on dream sorc?

I recently had a chance to try an

Enchant+dual Dream sorc. Since i had the runes, i said, why not.

Now, my build is complete, i respecd my

Fireball sorc into the Dream sorc build i'd been wanting to try, and it's not working for me.

Currently, my issue is that firstly, i am wayyy too fragile. After putting dex into the Passion

Phase Blade, i basically have no points left into vitality and I am left with 1700 hp AFTER

Battle Orders. On the other hand, if I run my points into mana and max

Telekinesis and

Energy Shield, then somehow I only have 2400 mana after bo, and I absorb 140% mana per damage, which, 2400/1.4 is 1714 effective hp, which has basically no advantage over the 1700 base hp i had with maxing vit, and I am weaker against mana draining enemies, especially the ones

Baal summons in ubers.

Secondly, if I try to make some adjustments to boost survivability, such as

Dracul's Grasp for gloves, which generally should work, as I've found out with my

Frenzy barb and

Zeal Din, because the

Life Tap is crazy effective. Thing is though, with Sorceress, she doesn't attack fast enough, even with my newly bought Faith bow which gives me fanatacism, to proc the

Life Tap fast enough.

I was running Chaos, and basically the first section of mobs inside the

Chaos Sanctuary nearly took me out.

Yes, everything.

Dream sorc needs gg gear to shine. Replace Thundergods with an

Arachnid Mesh. You may use

Frostburn for additional mana, but gloves are free choice, depending on your needs. My Dream is using

Chance Guards for some more mf. CoH is okay, but I would go for a facetted

Ormus' Robes or

Skin of the Vipermagi.

1. Don't use Passion. It sucks. The Passion build is a relic of pre-sunder times. Go for Crescent Moon Runeword instead. You really want that -35% enemy resist, due to lightning being your main damage source. You also get Ignore Target Defense, which is a must to hit stuff! No need for

Enchant though if you have

Conviction from your merc.

2. You need an Infinity merc! Take the

Prayer (+Cure helm) or

Holy Freeze variant.

3. Try the following build:

Lightning Mastery,

Static Field,

Thunder Storm,

Telekinesis,

Warmth: MAX. Put the rest into

Energy Shield. 1 point into Freezing Armor.

4.

Static Field is your best friend to soften enemies before going melee and letting your aura do the work.

5. Get as many lightning skillers as you can.

6. If you think you can dominate a P8 game with a Dream sorc, forget it. She shines when played solo or in smaller games up to 3-4 players.

It's a tough one but a Passion-wielding Dream Sorc has its limits and with the limited points and huge lack of AR, along with the Attack Speed it really doesn't work that well.

I would totally forget about

Enchant and focus on Lightning and -enemy res.

Drop the gloves for something better with FCR.

Boots - War Travs just go nicely or any boot with useful stats if you don't want the MF. Run/Walk speed is quite useful on this build even though it's

Teleport 24/7.

COH is a great option for that res and to be able to pre-buff quickly with the +skills.

Life Tap isn't something Sorcs really utilize. Shield/Armor Skills are what they use and I think investing into ES and pre-buffing the rest with a Memory can be quite great to hit that 95% absorption. All in all it's not meant to be looked at as a secondary health pool but more a Shield, as sorcs will always be squishy in some capacity.

If you want to utilize Dream - this build will have to drop the melee aspect to ascend to an all-areas farmer. When you swing for 50K you only need a hit or two to actually connect against large HP monsters.

i just made my dual Dream sorc, she is doing quite well.

you want to aim for as much + light dmg and - enemy res as you can.

Helm: Dream

shield: Dream

armor: Chains of Honor or

Ormus robes (with a 5/5 jewel) with some lightning skill on it lightning,

Chain Lightning,

Charged Bolt etc

weapon: crescentt moon, eschuta(5/5 jewel), even an occy would work here with a 4/5 or 4/4 jewel in it.

rings: double soj

ammy: maras or 2/20 ammy (10-15 fcr works for budget)

Boots: depends on your build for more MF war travs are good,

Silkweave for more mana, or some tri-res or dual res

Boots for more resistance

gloves: crafted gloves with +light res and +mana or some fcr gloves (

Magefist or trangs)

Belt: arachnid is the best option verdungos is ok for a secondary or any

Caster Belt with fcr and fhr

for skills you really want everything in lightning. no melee build.

your merc should be using Infinity and Fortitude, generally andys visage is ideal

Helm but can use many other options.

Vampire Gaze,

Crown of Thieves, or even talrasha

Helm works.

grand charms: 1 lightning sunder and the rest should be light skillers. 1 torch.

small charms: 1 anni, the rest whatever resistance you are missing with +str or +life or +mana

saw one yesterday when joined hell cows (p5-8, don't remember exact number)... probably the most boring, but the most powerfull character.
cows were dead in matter of 1-2 pulses in huge range around her.
but it's expensive to build her. donno will i ever try to build one in the future
