Description

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to have the shortcut for D2R *ACTUALLY* launch the game, fully. Or if there's a way to make a batch file that will do so.

I'm not looking to bypass the Blizzard launcher at all. I dont want to play only offline (by way of the D2R.exe shortcut), I am cool with having the launcher running, whether open on desktop or in the taskbar, but I am just trying to get back to the good ol' days of CLICK SHORTCUT... PROGRAM OPENS.

Everything I've read during my googles is about bypassing the launcher, or playing without an internet connection, or whatever. I remember at one point I had launch options for the shortcut that did this, but I can't remember what it was, or find the command again. The things I've tried so far don't work. Adding username, password, battlenet address into the shortcut causes an authenticator approval and then sits there loading. So I am hopeful someone here might know a fix. I dunno if there might be a batch file that basically opens the launcher, launches the game, then closes launcher back to taskbar. I don't know really. Just hoping for something, because I've looked for a long time and come up with nothing.

This method does not work if you have MFA enabled, that's why it hangs. Blizzard never made this method work with MFA, and I wouldn't expect them to make the effort... This method does work without MFA though (as far as I know).

Anyway - even though you're not multiboxing (you didn't mention it anyway), you can still check out @Shupershuff's Diablo2RLoader, as it can be useful for launching the game even if you only have one copy of the game:
https://github.com/shupershuff/Diablo2RLoader

And if you're not interested in the app itself, which is fair enough, he has also written a little guide about various method of multiboxing on your own without his app (and again, you're not multiboxing, but bear with me). You might be able to find something useful there.
https://github.com/shupershuff/D2r-Multiboxing-Methods

For example, he describes how to launch the game using "Authentication Token", which is a method that does work MFA and also bypasses the BNet app (the game launches directly from the shortcut). You'll have to create a script for it yourself though, but the info you need to get started is right on that page.
