The Recipe: Low Quality Rare Item of Same Type is widely used to try to create good rare Diadem (as it may roll with any affix even with iLvl 1 - because of the magic level and quality level)
You could instead dump a lot of gold on Gamble and try to get some rare Circlet/ Coronet (as long as you have enough level to guarantee L90 affixes - L92 in the case of Circlet and L87 in the case of Coronet)
On paper the second option seems cheaper
- gamble:
1 Ist = 10 MM gold = ~59 "magic/rare shots" =~ 5.9 "rare shots"
OBS:
- You have ~10% chance to gamble a rare item.
- I'm considering the gamble cost of Coronet at L92 (~$168 gold). You can get even more "rare shots" if you gamble a Circlet (~$119 gold) and/or if you use Edge or Gheed's Fortune to reduce the prices. And a litle few shots with a higher level ... (as the price will increase a little...)
- Recipe:
1 Ist = 14-20 Perfect Skull = ~2.3 - 3.3 "rare shots"
As Perfect Skull is not used for other things... shouldn't the demand for gold be higher than the demand for Perfect Skull? Or am I missing something?
(it seems to me that is easy to buy/sell Perfect Skull and sometimes you struggle to buy/sell gold...)
(And as far as I known as long as you have enough Level to roll all affixes that you want on a Circlet, a Diadem will only give you a little more defense in comparison
