So, over the last bit I ran into a couple runes, enough to make a Dragon cheat piece ( Sur and Lo).
I was kinda saving the Sur rune to kick myself in the shins with attempting to make another Bramble. (There's just such a big swing between 25-50%) to share between a necromancer and my Druid.
I simply refuse to use Enigma, so please don't.
The negatives are a Poison Creeper is bugged and needs to be fixed (fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath). And obviously the 25% possible swing.
But enough about Bramble.
I'm curious if I should just craft up a Dragon chest for my enchantress bow sorceress. I figure it would Cap up her damage a bit. With that said, I k ow for a fact I've done this before and I have the nagging suspicion it wasn't as good as it could be for various reasons. She is currently rocking duriels shell (upped).
I don't really have a use for a Lo, (and I don't want to trade it off). At least not outside of this.
So, the question is. Should I just wait a few more weeks and see what happens?

Can be used to make Runewords:
Dragon in and by itself gives you a rather abysmal lvl 14 Holy Fire aura.
That's 99-150 dmg added, 16-50 on tick.
(Assuming maxroll is up to date on those numbers)
Say you're still pushing a lvl 45 Fire Mastery, give or take, despite the bow slot wasting, that adds 338%.
Even with that, you're looking at a measly 433-657 added and 70-219 on tick, give or take. So...basically nothing.
Seems hardly worth it to say the least.
Now, if you were to run full HF aura, sorc isn't even bad for that but that implies you're abusing the multi-stack and going all in on it which you can't do in your bow-sorc approach as it requires both, your shield and weapon slot to get the other aura stacks which means you'd have to give up your explody Arrows.
Dragon alone though...total waste of runes and you'd very like (I dare pretty much guarantee it without doing any math on that side) get far, far more out of either stacking more Enchant/mastery skill points and/or going multi-facet for more -res (and +dmg though -res would be the more important piece there).

Aye man, normally my approach is to respect, use Demon Limb to save points, Dragon chest, Passion/Beast/hoj, Dream Helm and Dragon/Dream shield.Schnorki wrote: 1 month ago Dragon in and by itself gives you a rather abysmal lvl 14 Holy Fire aura.

All on switch.
Fire Mastery 20, Lightning Mastery 20, 0 in Enchant but crank up its synergies. Keep Demon Limb in the Cube.
But I mean, at this rate I may as well build an entirely new sorceress to take advantage of all that..
On top of all that it's only 1 piece of Dragon vs 2 and hoj. (Could build it as well, I've got the Cham runes just kicking g around acting as inventory decorators for the moment.)
Truly is a shame. I guess I'll just wait it out for now. The runes are bound to drop by new years. (Another Lo and Sur).
(The Crossbow ends up being a back up weapon with this setup)
Different approach:
I'm using a Dream helmet on my Bow-Enchantress. This Helm alone adds 1-16k lightning damage to my attacks, that's pretty good for doing CS (Balrogs and other fire immunes are hard to fight with fire alone, even with -resist, Dream+Infinity does the trick!).
Skills: 20 Fire Mastery, 20 Enchant, 20 Warmth, 20 Lightning Mastery, 20 Telekinesis, 1 into Teleport, 1 static, 1 Frozen Armor.
I get my ES from a Memory Staff, this saves me many points, so I can max both masteries. You need to be level 93 to be maxed.
Gear: Enigma (yes, you read right), Magefist, Mara, SoJ, Ravenfrost, Razor, Sandstorm Trek, Shael'ed Demon Machine, 7 fire skillers, Flame Rift.
Act 2 Prayer Merc with Cure, Forty, Infinity. No need for a CTA.
Result: 10-30k damage without precast gear. Can play p8 CS with this build. With precast gear I hit level 46 Enchant and get 35k+ max damage, but most of the time, I just use the gear I'm wearing.
Most fun Enchantress build I played so far!

Put any thought into Demon Limb? It can net you another 20pts to spend as you see fit. Though your damage will obviously go down. All depends on your specific needs.DasNarf wrote: 1 month ago Different approach:

You can easily achieve level 40+ Enchant by inevsting 20 hard points and depending on your equipment. That will nearly triple your damage vs the Enchant cast by Demon Limb (or more than triple, if you have level 45+ Enchant).BoringTitle wrote: 1 month ago Put any thought into Demon Limb? I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.

Lol, sure. Honestly though as I'm on p1-p3 99% of the time. It ends up not mattering all that much as far as damage is concerned.ShadowHeart wrote: 1 month agoYou can easily achieve level 40+ Enchant by inevsting 20 hard points and depending on your equipment. I've currently invested 20 in Enchant on my current character myself, though ive done both ways over the years.
I don't actually have a strong preference either way myself. For me both have advantages.
I don't remember skimping points on Energy Shield using +9 off of Memory, though I might have. Ita been a while.
I'm curious, why Enigma for bow enchantress instead of something like Chains of Honor or even Skin of the Vipermagi?
Can login for trades between 7-11pm EST
2 skill + mf + str (which enable to spend more skill points in vitality)
frw (if you don't "tele walk" time)
And if you use Energy Shield, you don't need to max resistances (maybe just poison)

Also the whole low requirements and smok'em if you got'em mentality to boot.Winterkill wrote: 1 month agoI'm curious, why Enigma for bow enchantress instead of something like Chains of Honor or even Skin of the Vipermagi?
(I personally avoid that runeword like the Plague due to its ubiquity)

I kinda find it funny how 'valuable' a rune is until you've made all the things you need out of them. And then they just take up room.
The main reason was the 45% FRW, since Sandstorm Trek only delivers 20%. This makes a huge impact on killspeed and item grabbing. +2 Skills, MF, Laek, STR are also strong points. As Energy Shield sorc I need every attribute point I can get due to not using CTA.Winterkill wrote: 1 month ago I'm curious, why Enigma for bow enchantress instead of something like Chains of Honor or even Skin of the Vipermagi?
I use Teleport to place my merc, and then I run to the optimal spot to shoot into the (lined-up) crowd.
Diablo 2 is a fast paced game, and having high run speed is one of the most important stats for me.
