Assassin help, Nightmare

HI! New to the forums but definately not new to Diablo.

I have an assassin Im running on Nightmare at the moment.

The issue I have is that at The

Chaos Sanctuary on Nightmare still rocking the same pair of Katars I beat Diablo on normal with, I cant seem to get anything better no matter how I play aroun with runes and sockets.

Right now I'm doing around 220 damage per

Katar, realistically how much damage should I be doing at this point in the game?

Try going traps. Its a lot more friendly for leveling and less gear dependent imo.

Wake of Fire does a ton of damage and you should have access to it if your at CS in NM.

I would say full traps, first fire traps up until you hit immunities more than you can handle. At that point full respec into lightning traps. Once you have gear and can farm for higher tier stuff and get good drops; most likely as always assa goes into Mosaic as its currently so broken OP I still cant comprehend wtf was going through the developers minds allowing this through. But hey, anything to keep the game from dying right? anything but fixing the actual issue, bots.

But do keep in mind, resistances are SUPER DUPER important in Diablo 2 games. You want to hit that sweet 75% all resistance as fast as you can and as d2r is baby-mode; resistance charms (small charms) are very easily found.

Then I join the other commentators in their advice to respec to traps - at least until you found some proper

Claws with which you can beat hell.
I currently lvl a Mosaic Sin with traps. With Spirit sword, Splendor shield and some decent other items you should not have bigger problems beating nightmare.

In act 4 NM already has tons of fire immunes. Should go to

Lightning Sentry by now.

What is your goal?
I remember a

Dragon Tail attempt being a breeze until

Chaos Sanctuary, and then really struggling hard.

I have never played a trapsin, but I usually pick a build and try to stick with it. My goal is playing with that build...

What skills are you using?
The raw damage from your weapons shouldn't matter all that much at this point, Unless you are focussed on

Tiger Strike +

Dragon Claw.

If you are using the elemental martial arts, that is where your damage comes from.
For Blades, a lot of damage comes from the skill, and deadly strike makes a big difference.

Honestly, it' just a casual playthrough, I've never used Assassin before, I'm just astounded that I haven;t found anything better during the ENTIRE playthrouhg of Nightmare. It;s crazy I'm in River of Fire with the same weapons I had end game Normal.
