What are the best magic items to reroll with
Recipe: Random Magic Item of Same Type
? What are the best rare items to reroll with
Recipe: Low Quality Rare Item of Same Type
?
  • Grand charms (magic)?
  • Small charms (magic)?
  • Diadems (magic or rare)?
  • Jewels (magic or rare)?
  • Rings (magic or rare)?
  • Amulets (magic or rare)?
  • Something else?
By "best" I mean what has the greatest expected value for the expended materials.

Level 91+ grand charms used to be really popular for this, but they're a lot easier to get now in
Terror

Recipe: Random Magic Item of Same Type

Most common is to re-roll small charms and grand charms.

Recipe: Low Quality Rare Item of Same Type

Most common is to re-roll
Diadem
(because of qlvl and mlvl, it can always get all affixes) and jewel (if you character has high level - don't remember the min level needed - it can roll all affixes too)

In general do not worth to re-roll magic items that you can gamble. And only a few rares worth to re-roll because of the ilvl reduction... (rings and amulets for example will never be able to get the higher level affixes... )

But if you're just thinking about "making money" (not about upgrading your items),

re-roll grand charms (even with your
Perfect Skull
).

Yeah if you find a GC from Hell
Nihlathak
or
Baal
or from a high enough terrorized zone (itemlvl 91) it can roll +skill together with +41-45 life which sells for a couple high runes depending on the skills. +Java is worth a lot, but +Passive and magic isn't worth anything, for example.
It never loses its item level so you can keep rerolling until you hit it

rare jewel reroll, you need to calculate it. it is very complicate.
If you are amazon or does not need str, you will need lv 70 character, do not reroll it in higher lv char, i. e. lv 80. This lv has highest chance to get ED.
once you see, +7-9 str, this jewel is broken.

For paladin, that need min damage do not need ED, you will need it exceed 43 but cant touch 45, around 60lv-69 , I didnt run this, for people specific need, they may know.

Some bar paladin may want ED STR, this will be easy, get highest lv to reroll...
Note: there are something very bad in 47-57, it may still need some calculation to avoid it. Maybe 80-93 that I am not sure.

Defense style jewel Ar Lr + 2 not important, (Ar, Light resist, Life, Attack rating), 30-35 lv
41 Light resist, 11 all resist , 8 life, 60 attack rating

Run char calculator,

Basically, jewel performance is not that big, sometimes you know it is stronger like 18 min damage vs 10 min damage. In real run, it is same, so you may want to use 10 min damage + resistance , not 18 min.

If you are not specific need something that market cannot find, dont use this receipt, market usually cheaper than you actually build it. (for 4 hit roll, you need at least 2
Jah
/ 300
Perfect Skull
cost, not mention the number roll, it can be very low in 1/4 or lack or only 3 status)

Something specific means, 18 min damage, All resistance, Light res/attack rating/fhr and roll number... This can cost you 10k
Perfect Skull
. Of course there are something valuable in middle.

Favor
Perfect Amethyst
over
Perfect Skull
...
These days, I don't need that much
Perfect Skull
, it is less encourage to pay in
Perfect Skull
but it will treat slightly better than
Perfect Gems
.

grand charms - good. if also looking for skillers you need, great.
small charms - probably best choice for selling and personal use purpose.
magic jewels - good choice for selling purpose.
rare jewel - big nono. chances to get anything good are extremly low.
rare
Diadem
- it's much much cheaper to gamble

if poor, trade your pamies, pskulls and prubies for ists and the rest you can spend on rerolls.

just keep in mind that at this moment there is very low demand for items (mostly only perfect or great rolls are wanted and for abnormal amounts of jahs) and good demand for pamies, skulls, rubbies etc.(crafting/roling materials).
meaning, a lot of old players still playing and crafting/rerolling and not much newcomers.

The calculation is not that complicated 😉

When you re-roll a rare many times it will end up with ilvl equal to 2/3 clvl
(2/3 clvl = (2/3 clvl)*.4 + clvl*.4)

If item's current ilvl is higher it will drop, and if item's current ilvl is lower it will rise.

In the case of rare jewel (qlvl 1 like rings and amulets), the higher alvl is 57
https://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/i ... wels.shtml

So you need clvl 88 to reroll rare jewel and get all affixes 😉🧮🤓
57 = 88*.4 + 57*.4
Ou
57/3 (round up) * 2 = 88

You can use the same formula to limit the ilvl you want to the rare jewel to not get some higher affixes

Agree,

charms

Currently,
Perfect Gems
and
Perfect Amethyst
is top demand item. Even for my case,
Perfect Amethyst
still much favor than other perfect series.

Perfect Skull
are less favor, even if you want to craft
Diadem
, the yellow
Diadem
market still not so good compare to GC/small charm market.
The top of
Diadem
market is good but it will be very expensive to reach it. Even if you roll good, the only tradeable currency is best small charm.
Only even the cost you roll good in small charm. Because everyone use GC but only some build use
Diadem
, not include me.

For profit craft purpose, focus on small charm. Next is GC.
Almost all 2 affinx charm has value, except some rare case.

One of my not so familiar friend, he buy
Jah
with real $. That he use
Diadem
, is collect p
Skull
with 4 account. thousand of
Perfect Skull
that is not enough for him to run 1 Sunday , even though
Jah
is really cheap in real world, I dont want spend it like that.(likely, you work 1 hr and get 2000
Perfect Skull
in current rate)

Favor

You are right, this is the final formula.

That in my run, if I see specific affinx, then I have to change character lv to reduce it then switch back.

normally I would get something useable before it reach final end.

---------
My recent build is to low lv char, it probably need only 120 poison(6 x).
That I am not sure. A1 may good enough but I may need prepare something for Diablo. LR 75 Life 200.

I still dont have mood to play it again with new nerc/sorc melee style or paladin with everything in place. (+ life to 300 hp)

By "best" I mean what has the greatest expected value for the expended materials.

Level 91+ grand charms used to be really popular for this, but they're a lot easier to get now in
Terror
Zones.
It's probably worth asking what you need. Because even though your stated goal is to get the greatest expected value, if you're rolling things that are helping you along the way, it is more efficient in terms of farming and cuts down on what you need to buy. So if you're full up on +life skiller grand charms for your characters, maybe don't re-roll those, maybe small charms instead. If you're not full up on +life skiller grand charms for your characters you probably want to roll those, because you'll use them.

There are a lot of small charm variants that are valuable. 11/7 Res/MF is very good (even potentially poison, but not cold). 11/20 res/life is good. all res/life is very good. 5/20 (all res/life) is insanely valuable.

Probably more useful than either of those is crafting caster amulets though.

In terms of expected value, there is some frictional loss in trading. So if you're rolling something you actually want, it is potentially far more efficient.

I'm good for gear that can be crafted/rerolled. It's more about getting the best value out of bulk materials like
Perfect Gems
that accumulate over time.

I've got a very high level character I can perform the recipes on as needed, but most non-ladder players probably do at this point too.
