Description

Stormshield primarily provides resistance against the elements of a storm: Cold and Lightning. It also offers a particularly high boost to Cold Resist and a smaller boost to Lightning Resist.

Stormshield also adds 35% physical resistance, which is the highest of such bonus from any single item in the game. This property is especially useful on higher difficulties, where survival is more difficult. And obviously on hardcore, where it is the top priority.

Monarch as a main shield should also consider having properly socketed (with

Stormshield - in some situations dr 35% alone is much more decent than +2 all skills from Spirit. For example, if you're sorc rushing people through hell, jumping through hordes of dolls/

Succubus/amplify mobs/etc. Tried and tested.

While using

Stormshield, it is worth bearing in mind that the effective Physical Resistance (expressed on items as "Damage Reduced by X%) of player characters is capped at 50%. Any Physical Resistance in excess of 50% will only serve to mitigate the effects of

Amplify Damage,

Decrepify, and/or

Bone Break.
