Uber Smiter gear tips

Alright I'm almost there, just a few gear decisions to make. I will be using Exile and Grief (although I will likely try Last Wish at some point). G-Face (I don't have CoA) and Gore Riders (or Goblin Toes), Drac's Grasp, T-Gods,

Dwarf Star,

Raven Frost, and probably Mara's (or Highlord's?). Swap will likely just be CtA/Spirit, although I'm not sure if I should bring a tele staff or not. I think I have ruled out using Enigma (at least to start), as I am leaning more towards safety than speed. I plan on using Treachery to proc

Fade, but from there, I'm not sure if my best option would be CoH or Fortitude, or maybe even just a Duress.

It's quite possible I'd probably be fine with any of those choices but curious to hear what experiences others have had using different armors and setups. Keep in mind I have never fought the ubers before. I have of course watched videos and am confident in my abilities, but you know, no one wants to die in hell! xD

Key is to get your lightning resist to about 300% to neutralize

Conviction. I have, and I've tried, Last Wish and Exile, but I didn't see any real improvement so you might consider trying a run or two without them before using the runes needed to make them. If of course you're like me, and can afford to throw away some high runes to serve curiosity then go for it. There are those here on the forum who swear by them. Here is the thread I started when I was still learning.

I have already made an Exile, but the runes are not an issue so I do not mind tinkering until I find my sweet spot. Do you swap your

Belt for certain ubers or any other gear? I would love to keep swapping to a minimum (other than Treachery

Fade proc), but I am not against it. This thread has some more good info in it, thanks!

Once you get your lightning resists up to about 300 you no longer need to swap Treachery for

Fade. I've been playing around lately trying a few different items. I use the Verdungo's for running the mini Ubers but it doesn't really matter. I never swap anything but my Verdungo's and T-God's, but after more than 300 Uber's it doesn't seem to matter.

I like G-face over COA and I swap out Enigma for Chains after killing the mini ubers and also I swap out verdungos for Tgods when killing

Mephisto he is the only real problem in my opinion with his lightning damage that can still kill me if i forget to swap to Tgods. Most everything else you mentioned is the same other than Exile i would stick to HOZ I use an upped

Eth with a

Zod and my smiter kills them fast with Grief.

Am I right to assume that the IAS from Grief and

Fanaticism get me to the 6 frame breakpoint for

Smite, or do I actually need the extra from a Highlord's or some IAS gloves? I am looking at a few tables and I'm not sure if I'm reading them correctly.

If you go to the attack speed calculator, with a Grief in a

Phase Blade, only the IAS provided by Grief will be enough to reach 6 FPA. You won't need IAS in anywhere else.

I think my problem was I was reading it as if the

Phase Blade was already a Grief and I needed 8 more IAS somewhere but it all makes sense now!

One very simple and stupid thing to do when doing the big Ubers : swap your

Gheed's Fortune (no drop in

Uber Tristram) for a 25 to 30 light res grand charm (a cheap one, if you also have life even better), it helps quite a bit reaching 300.

I'm just about done with the build, including charms. Got right to 320 LR so I should be perfect! I am just deciding what I want to put in the G-face socket (if I socket it). I could put an

Um and free up some charm slots, or I could put a 40% ED jewel, but I'm not sure how much that would help.

We've done it! That was actually much easier than I expected, the only thing I might change is bringing a tele staff for the 2 mini-ubers besides

Duriel. Charging around was a bit hectic and took a while! Everything else went so smooth, everything died super fast, I never even took much damage, etc. The torch wasn't that special but I'm keeping the

Standard of Heroes xD

Club. It's sick to see more Paladins running riot in Sanctuary!

As far as your build is concerned, I would add that there's no point running

Dracul's Grasp if you have Exile as you only need one source of

Life Tap and

Smite cannot use Life Per Hit. If you are a Hybrid and choose to

Zeal then you can take advantage of LPH.

Laying of Hands is huge in this slot and adds IAS as well.

I would consider switching to

Gore Rider and to take advantage of the Open Wounds, which is huge in Ubers. Armor? Fortitude is super nice here at 300% ED and if you balance your stash Small Charms with some Res, you can really go all-in on damage on the gear side. COH is deluxe and helps mitigate Meph's

Conviction but I'd stick wit Forti in this case.

Also I don't really think

Dwarf Star is needed, but that's up to you.

If you really wanted you could throw Enigma in your Cube and Tele to Bosses and swap to Fortitude later, but I would honestly just set yourself up as a hybrid Zealer and punch your way through - it's fun and fast when set up correctly. No need for CTA in

Uber Tristram as you pre-buff and then leave in stash. Tele staff on swap for quick escapes if you really wanted to.
