Do in game items actually say mana leech? Or is it just common usage to say that.
I think it's the exactly the same thing in different words.

Oh? Interesting! So every „hit“ (with an
Axe
, an arrow, a Firewall, a poison spike) on a monster leeches 6% of it‘s mana, right?
So
Hurricane
is basically Instant-full-mana?

Nope. It has to be a physical hit with a weapon

also it leeches x% of the physical(!) weapon damage you deal to the monster.

For trades: PrincipalO#2775
For DClone/Ubers: ForrestGrump#2731

Only weapon hits dealing physical damage (as noted above; final damage, after resistance and damage reductions), multiplied by drain effetiveness, multiplied by difficulty level penalty. No easy infinite mana, sorry.
But
Life Tap
curse, unlike life and mana leech on items, ignores drain effectiveness and difficulty penalties, and yes, it basically means infinite life. Commonly used to fight Ubers.

Yeah, life I got, mana I need… :-)
