Leaf is easily obtainable and one of the best weapons for a newly created Sorceress.

Ral Runes can be farmed by Normal Countess within an average of 4-5 runs. The staff base can be bought from vendors in Act 1 and Act 2.

The mana after each kill is very helpful, as well as the boosts to fire skills and especially

Warmth.

Since one cannot wear a shield with this runeword, switching to a Spirit sword with Ancient's Pledge or Rhyme Shield in the second weapon slot can be a viable alternative once arriving in Nightmare difficulty.

Note that the "+3 To Fire Skills" modifier applies to all classes, making it a good early game weapon for not only Sorceress but Druid and Assassin as well.

For sorceress, try to find a 2 socket staff at

Drognan (Act 2 normal) that has +1-3 to the specific skill(s) you want. For example, as a

Fireball sorceress I found a +3

Fireball 2 socket staff at

Drognan at level 19, giving me a total of +6

Fireball at level 19!

Skills obtained from staffs mods do not apply to synergies, so focus your search for the rune word base for the spell you use as main attack.

Assassin's that use this do not benefit from "+2 mana after each kill". (Or from any item that grants the life permutations of this as well) This is due to the fact that their traps do not count as the assassin killing the monsters, but instead as a minion doing it.

However, considering that the trap bug was fixed in D2R, this may mean that the underlying systems for the way traps operate and are perceived by the game world may have changed. And as a result, this mechanic may have also been fixed.
