That's my thought, but i see it a lot in public games! In build guides i've seen it as well

CE is not stronger on higher levels. The damage dealt is based on base monster health, not on player count adjusted monster health.

Thanks, I really didn't know about this!
And it makes sense that CE suffers the same scaling as all the other skills.
I had slight suspicions that something is off when I noticed in P4 games that some monsters needed 3 instead of 1-2 CE but I always thought this was due to their res and unique affixes etc. (Too lazy to do the math in my head.) But since I run Infinity for higher fire damage, always cast Amp Damage and always spam CE as soon as the first monster falls (for the mana I have an Insight IG), my kill speed is almost as fast as in P1. But I mostly play the Necro in Cows where there are always plenty of corpses.
In P8 this effect should be much, much stronger, I need to test it there.
In early game you can use Spirit sword. DWeb is expensive and needs a high level. Hoto is obviously better and White is my favorite, even though it lacks the res.
Spirit Monarch only makes sense if you want to reach 125 (or maybe 75) fcr bp. This is the case if you need to tele fast, e.g. in PvP. In PvM I'm totally happy with more damage and 48 or even 30 fcr BP.
The Maxroll guide is a CE necro that uses poinson just for the first kill. For CE having faster cast rates makes more sense compared to a pnova only necro.
Playing HC SSF right now.

Yeah, I also uncovered it this (or last) year. From the skill's decription you'd assume otherwise.mikelessar wrote: 1 day agovued wrote: 1 day agoNo, CE does not deal more absolute damage. Stygian Fury, Vile Witch, Siren, etc.
What type of damage do their Fireball-esque attacks do?
It's not exactly a Fireball/bolt because it has some things orbiting the Fireball.
My sorc has 80 fire res, 15% fire absorb from Dwarf Star, max all other res, 33 flat magic damage reduction, plus I'm wearing 29% Horazon's Legacy...and a Herald pack of these wicked women will absolutely melt me if I get caught in the crossfire.
Fire damage from literally anything else is never an issue. Lightning damage from beetles and Willowisps is even very tolerable comparatively with max light + 33 magic reduction...
Is there anything else I can do?

They are half fire and half physical afaik. So you can use e.g. a Stormshield to reduce their damage further.R0b0yt0 wrote: 1 hour agomonsters/stygian-fury-t4265.html

Oooh...! Interesting.
Been considering a re-roll to try out max block w/ Stormshield on weapon swap with the Life Tap Wand. With how my char is setup the only other mob that is this frightening to me is a Terror pack of Spike Fiend...can't see those barbs coming at you, and before you know it X|
Sounds like a great opportunity to test this out...
Presumably the Siren spell/attack can't be blocked, but the barbs from the Spike Fiend can?

I think this is a noob question, but how the "+ damage to demon/ undead" is calculated? I mean, how it interact with critical hits and the skills that increase physical damage?
Same as other % damage but only if the target is demon/undead. So it's added as absolute percentage points.Diego Henrique wrote: 1 hour agoI think this is a noob question, but how the "+ damage to demon/ undead" is calculated? E.g. If you deal +50% extra damage to undead and you have another +300ed from gear, and +150ed from stats (str /dex), then your damage vs. undead is increased from +450% to +500%.
Ethereal is applied before.
Critical hits are calculated afterwards.

The sources are not consistent. They agree on that the melee attacks are magical.R0b0yt0 wrote: 1 hour agovued wrote: 1 hour agoThey are half fire and half physical afaik. So you can use e.g. a Stormshield to reduce their damage further.R0b0yt0 wrote: 1 hour agomonsters/stygian-fury-t4265.html

The opinions on the ranged attacks differ.
According to
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Stygian_Fury , the ranged attack is 100% physical and can be blocked.
