Description
I'm literally about to give up on the game. I spent so much time working towards this. I killed Uber Ancients twice and they didn't drop anything. I am frustrated and confused as hell. Can someone please explain what happened? I didn't die at all the first time. I just went back to Revive my Merc. The second time I did die to some Whirlwind. I had the potions for it. No gem either time. So much time gone.

Threads about this bug pop up all the time, blizzard claimed to have fixed it but it's still happening.
As for what happened, there appears to be "dead zones" around the map where the jewel can fall into, that cannot be picked up, similar to how specters in Arcane Sanctuary can drop you nothing if they die off the platforms.
Known dead zones in Arreat Summit include map edges and pillars.

Thank you very much for the reply. I've calmed down some. Still don't feel like playing the game anymore. I did kill the first guy by a Piller, to keep him in one place. The second was Whirlwind guy near the Edge so he would Whirlwind less. Doesn't matter. I'm done. I am not doing that again. They are worthless. Don’t give up. Give it one more shot. No way it happens 3 times in a row. I can give you a Statue Set if you'd like to give it one last shot, but no pressure. That's just awful

Comparing it to the ghost situation in Arcane Sanctuary is a good idea. The ghosts only drop loot if there is firm flat Ground under them.
Try to kill the last ancient on open plain snow, no edges, no pillars, no altars, nothing within 2 yards that could "suck up" the jewel.
For me, this has always worked. (So far I got about 20 jewels but no "no drop".)
