a bit sad the game is getting too much sequels thus becoming more and more alike with films like fast and furious lmao
I feel it's a 0% chance they'll go in the d2-2 direction now that they've invested so much into d2r. It probably wouldn't make commercial sense for them to have two games serving such a similar audience. So i don't have much hope

I was shocked at how little I cared about this announcement, but it makes sense.
I was mega hyped for D3, skeptical for D4, and I guess this is a natural progression.

The only thing I can say is when/if you give feedback, make sure it's specific, actionable, and detailed. It might feel good to say "D3/4 bad", but from the presentation I feel they're actively trying to win back the D2 crowd. So...let them try. What do you want to see, or not see? If you've given D3 or 4 a try, what do you think works or doesn't? If nothing else, if D2 was made today, what modernizations (because we know it will be a modern game) would you want and why? D4 failed to win back D2 players in part because the players said "it's too much like D3" and left, pushing the playerbase and the game in that direction. We all want the franchise to be successful - you're here, after all - so just please don't give up on the game while it's still in development.
Fully disagree with this. It's their job to make a game that attracts whichever crowd they want to attract.
I will trust them as game designers to be able to make the game they want to make, and if that doesn't seem appealing to me, then I'll assume it's not for me. They shouldn't need to (or want to) crowdsource the game design, that's what they're supposed to be good at. Games don't fail because they don't get specific enough feedback from players.
That doesn't mean I'm shutting out the possibility that this game will be awesome, but there's a reason players give a muted reaction. Ball's on their court.

Why do you keep compar
It must be accepted that neither D3, nor D4, nor D5, nor D6, nor even D7 will ever be like D2.
Times have changed and the video game industry with them.
A video game in 2026 will never be like a 2001 video game (I assume that the Diablo 2 we all know was born with LOD).Xenozfan2 wrote: 5 hours agothey're actively trying to win back the D2 crowd. So...let them try. What do you want to see, or not see? If you've given D3 or 4 a try

I feel like i lost it, newer games dont apeal to me, shoutout to poe2 for making qol features i can only Dream about... onfortunately the game experience feel like an downgrade from d2 / d2r. d3 and d4 seams to apeal to a different audience entirely, qol and systems behind gameplay... not to my taste, d5 i guess is likely going to apeal to a total different audience with different priorities than me, I have no hope D5 or later will be for me to enjoy.
They haven't invested much into D2R since its release.kerph wrote: 14 hours agoI feel it's a 0% chance they'll go in the d2-2 direction now that they've invested so much into d2r.
Maybe 5 - 10% tops of the effort, time and money they put into D4 so far.
Making TZs, a new class and some new items isn't a lot of content for a popular game by such a big company.
You're right, tho i don't think d2r qualifies as a popular game for blizzard sadly. In my mind i was including d2r the game itself as well, but i just meant that blizzard has already captured us with d2r, i don't see them double dipping and releasing a game that would be competing very much with d2mikelessar wrote: 1 hour agoThey haven't invested much into D2R since its release.

I think a true modern diablo 5 (as in like d3/4) will make them more money than a d2-2, 2 (seeing as d2r is already kinda d2-2)

Yes and no, I think. D4 already competes with D2R and D3 on some level, so releasing a game that competes more directly with D2R is still possible, especially if they're trying to distance themselves from D3 and 4.kerph wrote: 56 minutes agoYou're right, tho i don't think d2r qualifies as a popular game for blizzard sadly. Theyve also captured a (largely separate) auidence with d3/4. I see no reason why they would distance themselves from it. They've made a loooot more money thru those games than they have with d2rXenozfan2 wrote: 50 minutes agoYes and no, I think. I think d4 was a d3 competitor, much more than it was a d2 competitor and I feel d5 is going to be the same
