a bit sad the game is getting too much sequels thus becoming more and more alike with films like fast and furious lmao

I feel it's a 0% chance they'll go in the d2-2 direction now that they've invested so much into d2r. It probably wouldn't make commercial sense for them to have two games serving such a similar audience. So i don't have much hope

I was shocked at how little I cared about this announcement, but it makes sense.

I was mega hyped for D3, skeptical for D4, and I guess this is a natural progression.

I only play softcore, non-ladder.

The only thing I can say is when/if you give feedback, make sure it's specific, actionable, and detailed. It might feel good to say "D3/4 bad", but from the presentation I feel they're actively trying to win back the D2 crowd. So...let them try. What do you want to see, or not see? If you've given D3 or 4 a try, what do you think works or doesn't? If nothing else, if D2 was made today, what modernizations (because we know it will be a modern game) would you want and why? D4 failed to win back D2 players in part because the players said "it's too much like D3" and left, pushing the playerbase and the game in that direction. We all want the franchise to be successful - you're here, after all - so just please don't give up on the game while it's still in development.

Fully disagree with this. It's their job to make a game that attracts whichever crowd they want to attract.

I will trust them as game designers to be able to make the game they want to make, and if that doesn't seem appealing to me, then I'll assume it's not for me. They shouldn't need to (or want to) crowdsource the game design, that's what they're supposed to be good at. Games don't fail because they don't get specific enough feedback from players.

That doesn't mean I'm shutting out the possibility that this game will be awesome, but there's a reason players give a muted reaction. Ball's on their court.

A video game in 2026 will never be like a 2001 video game (I assume that the Diablo 2 we all know was born with LOD).
It must be accepted that neither D3, nor D4, nor D5, nor D6, nor even D7 will ever be like D2.
Times have changed and the video game industry with them.

I feel like i lost it, newer games dont apeal to me, shoutout to poe2 for making qol features i can only Dream about... onfortunately the game experience feel like an downgrade from d2 / d2r. d3 and d4 seams to apeal to a different audience entirely, qol and systems behind gameplay... not to my taste, d5 i guess is likely going to apeal to a total different audience with different priorities than me, I have no hope D5 or later will be for me to enjoy.

They haven't invested much into D2R since its release.

Maybe 5 - 10% tops of the effort, time and money they put into D4 so far.

Making TZs, a new class and some new items isn't a lot of content for a popular game by such a big company.
