I guess you're right, but I think most people are more careful with their bidding once real money is involve (for place like ebay, amazon, ect..) but i can be wrong. Fake or not serious offers can still happen. I didn't know there was botting in traderie, thanks for the information. What you're describing are a people problem, not a Traderie problem. I've experienced all of what you described everywhere in every online game I've ever played. In fact, i would go as far as to say this is ubiquitous in online market places of any kind, ebay, local classifieds, etc.
Speaking on Traderie in specific, there is a lot of automation (botting) that goes on there, that could explain a lot of the erroneous offers you receive.
