Let me preface this with, while viable in p8, she melts in melee against p8 heralds, sadly. Probably most everyone in melee against

Fanaticism,

Concentration, cursed,

Thorns. Or maybe I haven't found the play patterns yet.

What are the best weapons? (IAS doesn't matter for phase blades, low for single attacks and low for

Zeal)

1) Passion

Phase Blade was my go-to but most often I'm stuck mid-hit winding up my sword arm with no damage output. I believe this is a problem with range 1 weapon, unless someone has more info. Happens to paladin using

Zeal as well. You then need to reposition to keep hitting with

Zeal. Also,

Zeal skill is getting unequipped each game from left-click upon starting one.

2) Grief? Probably brings nothing to the table. Your physical damage will rise by a couple hundred.

3) Last Wish. Aura might as well not be there, unless for buffing merc, but

Fade and crushing blow would help against high-life targets. Not sure, how much

Life Tap leeches from a couple hundred physical damage before resists. Might be ok?

4) Crescent Moon Runeword. Like above ignores defense, adds a ton of damage through -res from both aura and hits. Has

Static Field triggers, though you are probably casting those yourself.

5) Sneaky 5) with Hand of Justice? She does run with both Dream and max

Enchant.


I don't necessarily need a maxroll answer here but rather, if someone built and tried and perhaps found a solution to 1), or maybe it's not worth the time to do so and just go with Crescent for all and Last Wish for bosses?

Im run Crescent 95% of the time, and others 5% is Passion, for ubers and so on, when feelin tired. Heralds are mostly just skip, over 500 t5 heralds killed lvling 90-94 i died quite often and got just 3 sunders, while casually (and supersafe) farming bosses for statues i got around 14-17 sunders in roughly just slightly more time window

Can't 1-hand Infinity on a sorc and you need the shield slot for the 2nd Dream.

Personally, I'd say "none of the above" but then again, my Dream sorc doesn't melee anything. Ever. ^^

Over the years, I felt compelled to give that Dream Sorc another shot every now and then. So I tried a slightly different build several times. But none of them cut the mustard. Dream sorc was, is and probably will be an excentric trophy build. She can be satisfying if you seek a challenge. If you want that, more power to you.

If fun does mean being powerful to you, things are like this:

The Passion/Grief/BotD whatever melee variant is downright suicidal, slow and clunky. She is extremely good in killing single targets, and she can deal with folks on /P1. But expect her to die. Regularly.

The aura concentrated variant with Crescent Moon Runeword and maxed

Static Field /

Thunder Storm boiled down to being a monster kiting contest, which felt like playing a passive summoner build... without summons. Your merc will die a lot. And lord of hell, if you ever meet an extra fast

Herald.... you are reserved for the upcoming typewriter's cramp.

Inbetween builds felt even more underpowered.

Bottom line: If I happen to feel my oats, I slap two Dreams and a CM on my

Nova-Sorc, slaughter a few cows, and swap back to its original because it is just more fun to me. Or I don't do anything like this and dust off my Tesladin instead.
