Can be used to make Runewords:
Got a 99 bowazon back in the day. Farming cows with Multi.
Same.
I had 60-70 characters who were all between 70 and 95, but never hit 99. Never really tried for it either, I was more about leveling them all roughly the same.
I'm not even sure I'll go for it this time around; I have 2 in the 90s and everyone else 85-89 so far.

I've had like 3-4 level 99 characters throughout the years, mostly during the 1.07 - 1.10 days. I don't remember it being too slow or anything, just mindlessly running p8 cows with my Nova Sorceress after school, competing against all these Javazons / Multiple Shot WF Amazons
My highest level in D2 in old days was 93. Now I have a sorc of 95 which is near 96 lvl (3 epx bars left). One of my Diablo challenges this tie is to reach 99 lvl. But I enjoy the idea it's not easy and fast because it can give me months of game pleasure
Ya. Nova Sorc, lvl 99 on something like 1.08. Nova, Thunderstorm and Mana Shield to the fullest, 2x SOJ, Shako, Lidless Wall afair was part of the setup. No Mercs, no runewords and cows were for leveling. Soon after i hit the 99, i gave my whole bnet account to a kid who was pleasently surprised. I got rid of my addiction, he got a smile on his face... Hey! Yes Sir. I will stay a while and listen. Beer?
Hahahah, yeah, I never had a merc on any of my characters, lolrantha wrote: 4 years agoYa. Nova Sorc, lvl 99 on something like 1.08. I was rocking 2x Occy rings + bugged Tal's armor on my Sorceress and she was pretty much immortal, although teleporting quite a bit, in case she got hit
And my Barbarian was slicing the cows with 2x Ith swords, actually managing to kill them relatively quickly himself, instead of relying on the sorceresses and amazons.
I remember using rare colossus swords... which were rerolled or socketed in the cube with Chipped Gems and then puttin those ED/IAS jewels in?

Highest I got was sorc 97lvl, back in 1.13 - mostly because of multiple 8pp wsk/ Baal runs. Then I just felt too lazy to continue.
Right now, I have 3 online chars - sorc 94, sorc 93 and dru 93. Again - too lazy to play a new character, and don't feel eager to elevate these 3 further - bc I can't emulate 8ppl for exp gain. Yes, I could rob another player's games, but that's too miserable approach for me - so only split farm option remains. Will play a bit more for awhile, but feel like I deserve some vacation after 5 months of everyday "work"
. Could use a break, I think.

I was using two of these (it is basically a Silence runeword, made in a Zod-bugged Eth sword with removed runes):rantha wrote: 4 years agoI remember using rare colossus swords... which were rerolled or socketed in the cube with Chipped Gems and then puttin those ED/IAS jewels in?
They were sold with 6 open sockets, so mine had 6x 40/15 jewels.
With certain builds it seems to be significantly easier to level up after 90+ because they are better at clearing the areas that give the most XP. I spent most of my playtime on 3 characters (zealot pally, fire sorc, lightning sorc) and out of the 3 the lightning sorc has the highest level (95 compared to lvl91 of the two other) despite logging the least amount of playtime.
OP
4 years later, still no 99. lol.. maybe season 15? haha
got my 1st 99 ever few months ago.
Frenzy/WW barb. It was a slog but finally made it.
only thing is I don't play that character anymore or as much.

Going for Holly Grail or 99 lvl with my curent barb. whatever comes first. Just started playing again after 20 years!
Mostly because it was released on switch.

In all the years since I started with Diablo 1 back in the days my highest character is a Wind Druid with Lvl 95 in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Had to get him that high so that he can wear the amulet I found for him...

I've never reached 99 (i think the highest I had was 95). I felt no incentive to do so. Builds are complete long before, more or less.
In legacy D2 it meant thousands of Baalruns (read: following bots' games, hiding behind a pillar and trying to snatch some loot) - boring as the Burning Hells. For what? A number on a character, which is going to be deleted anyway in a few months after a reset? Yes, there is NLD, but LD was strictly superior (LD-only items; more challenging enemies), so there was no point in playing NLD.
D2R made this experience better with Terror Zones, but... did it? First, it's 20 years overdue. We don't have time to no-life anymore. Second, LD is not strictly superior anymore (because of Mosaic), but lack of new LD-only items and weaker enemies still disincentivize from playing NLD.
Maybe if there was a permanent reward, or at least an achievement...

I hit lvl 99 on my sorc by farming on 4 accounts at once
if you have a decent PC you can run more instances of diablo and farm stress free, but you also have to get more accounts

Hitting lvl 99 is a weird e-penis stretching move. It takes so long to grind that the closest ive gotten was 98 back in the original d2 times.
That day I chose never to go for 99, one has to have either bug abuse system to get there or just play 20 hours a day grinding and I dont have that in me.
When I see people hitting 99 all I think of is cheaters or bug abusers. Thats about all of them.

This is exactly what is wrong with Diablo, plus the bots.Pitach wrote: 2 hours agoI hit lvl 99 on my sorc by farming on 4 accounts at once

how is that cheating?
keep your opinions to yourself lol, it's a game mechanic, completely legal and available, to play on multiple accounts at once
if you cannot afford it for various reasons it doesn't mean nobody else should do it, sour grapes eeeh?
The fact that you don't have it in you, doesn't make everyone else who does "cheater or bug abuser".Semirotta wrote: 1 hour agoWhen I see people hitting 99 all I think of is cheaters or bug abusers. Thats about all of them.
It's a valid way to play, and to have a well-defined goal in the game with no clear ending. As usual, you measure everyone else with your own crappy stick.
I'm at 98 and 1/3 on my Blizz sorc, I'm playing on P1 online, and yes - in a long term it's painfully boring, monotonous and slow, and definitely not for everyone, but also, definitely within a realm of possibility. By playing casually 1-2h per day you can gain about 10% of exp per week. I just treat it as a "byprodct" of working on a Grail by elite sniping.
Out of curiosity - what bug is there to abuse when grinding exp? Are you talking about particular stuff, or just spitballing BS as usual?
