I had the most fun since i had at the very beginning of D2R with the new warlock. Felt like christmas vacation. Got 3 old friends back to the game.
I made my first online character 6 days ago on Ladder non-DLC and it was a lot of fun playing Diablo 2 for the first time in 20-something years. I finished Normal difficulty yesterday, but today I van't find any more players on Nightmare. I guess everyone moved to the DLC because of the discount. Feels empty, so I guess I have to move to the DLC as well as I want to continue to play with people.
Yeah, its like the first season on the (back then) new d2r, when non-ladder became empty. You will see much more when the first dlc-ladder ends in less than one month (estimated), but only on dlc. The non-dlc part really feels empty now.
Eh it's been alright. I tried to enjoy it without Teleport but broke down and made a sorceress. I do think there's something to the 'fresh start' that's really special.
I gave HC another shot, largely because of the Warlock's tankiness. I found it particularly amusing to be able to blast enemies right through walls. I have no idea what Blizzard was thinking there, but it helps immensely in HC. I was pretty pissed off that Sunder Charms had been removed. But once I realized that the Warlock is a class for which immunities simply don't exist, my frustration was cut in half.
I played D1 on PSX (load times where crazy) and D2 back in the day when they add Assassin and Druid, tons of hours with friends, that was like in the pleistocene, I got D2R ROTW gifted a month ago and got a blast discovering all the new stuff, so it was pretty fun for me, not a single Griffon was found yet after thousand pindle runs, but got my Java to lvl 95, so pretty much fun hunting and getting back onto the game, hoping to catch the S14 and have some fun too.
Started a warlock, got it in the 90s and spec'd it Apoc > Chains > Abyss > ES > Blood Boil using respecs. Was fun, but ES definitely skewed the rest of the game in a weird way.
Have a Blizz sorc, WW Horker barb, and Ice Maiden zon in the 90s too. They all have pretty decent gear, be it sets, runewords, or gg rares, but no Enigma / Infinity / BOTD / Death level stuff.
I got started a month or so late, and trade dies down on this site pretty quickly near the end of the ladder. I've got some really solid stuff in my stash, some posted for trade even, but there's no demand. Now's about the time I sit back and wait for the next ladder, I suppose.
