The character roll over and become non-ladder.
The shared stash remains separated becoming three read-only pages that you can withdraw from but not add to.
If you have any of those read-only shared pages now, from season one, you need to clear them out before season two ends.
[Edit]
To clarify a bit, the three then read-only pages are only accessible from non-ladder characters.
And you need to clear out the three older read-only pages because they say those pages will be deleted at the end of the season to make room for the then new read-only pages.

Correct.
- Ladder characters are converted into non-ladder characters
- They retain their personal stash as their personal stash
- Your current non-ladder "past" stash (aka season 1 shared stash) will be deleted and any items still left inside will be lost
- Your current ladder shared stash will become your new non-ladder "past" stash, acting the same way as the current one (i.e. accessible as a withdraw-only stash for non-ladder characters)

This is what it looks like on non-ladder in your shared stash after a ladder season has ended (if you actually had any items or Gold on ladder).

OP
Wow thank you for this, I'll make sure to clear that out tonight!ShadowHeart wrote: 3 years agoThis is what it looks like on non-ladder in your shared stash after a ladder season has ended (if you actually had any items or Gold on ladder).
Oh and that little checkbox to show "Past" disappears once you've emptied all those previous ladder season stash tabs of all items and Gold.

The ladder only runewords, sunders will remain after reset?
Yes. They will move to non-ladder as part of your inventory/stash and will be usable in non-ladder.
Unless they change their approach with this season though, you still won't be able to find sunders or create those runewords in non-ladder - merely use (or trade) the ones that you collected during the season.

I hope sunders still work the same in non-ladder.Schnorki wrote: 3 years agoYes. They will move to non-ladder as part of your inventory/stash and will be usable in non-ladder.

They will. Unless Blizz decides to change how they work with a future patch in which case they would then work differently in both, ladder and non-ladder moving forward.
With the the new storage system do we know, what happens to runes, rejuv and gems now in the stacks? Do we need to click every single piece out of the stash, into the inventory, switch to non-ladder stash and click again every piece to fit in? Will take quite some time if someone is stacked with 99x of rejuv and high numbers in runes and even more in gems.
We don't really know yet for sure - this will be the first ladder reset with the new stash, and I don't think Blizzard has clarified how this will work with stacked items. I imagine you'll need to click them out from the "previous ladder season shared stash" one by one (or three by three for the item types that support it), and then click them back into the non-ladder stash, but we'll just have to wait and see. Maybe Blizzard will post some more info about it when they announce the next reset, but we'll see.Greys_Prey_Two wrote: 19 hours agoWith the the new storage system do we know, what happens to runes, rejuv and gems now in the stacks? If I'm right it won't take that long. Just open your past (ladder) stash. Using a mule char with emptied stash, open the saved materials, gems, or runes stash you want to transfer from ladder past stash, place your mouse cursor over a group, hold ctrl + left click, and quickly transfer the items until your stash is full, then switch to your current shared stash, do the same in reverse and transfer the items to your non ladder shared materials, gems, or rune storage.Greys_Prey_Two wrote: 19 hours agoWith the the new storage system do we know, what happens to runes, rejuv and gems now in the stacks? In theory, you should still just get a "clone" of the ladder stash as it is converted down to NL. Should look the same as the normal stash and basically work just like previous seasons as well in that you pull stuff out of it but can't put things back in.
That said, knowing blizz, they probably didn't test that part and end of season will break everything.

I was curious if you have 99 Ral runs in you NL stash and have 24 Ral runes in your ladder stash.
After ladder season is over, what happens?

In theory, the same thing.
You still have 99 in your NL stash.
And you'll have the "past ladder season" read-only stash (also on NL) with 24 more.
You'll then have the duration of the next season to move those 24 Ral out of the extra stash or they'll be lost as the next season's end overwrites it with the new one.
Up until now, when a season ended, you simply got 2 stashes on NL. Your normal one and the read-only ladder stuff one that lasts for the duration of the next season. Any and all item moving was then a manual act and there was no auto-moving or merging of any kind. And even though stackables would somewhat lend themselves to adding that, there is no reason to believe blizz did so. The likeliest assumption hence remains that everything is still a manual act based on a read-only secondary stash.

Thank you. This is my first ladder season, so I didn't know what to expect.Schnorki wrote: 8 hours agoIn theory, the same thing.

At the end of ladder, the price of all lower runes and most gems (apart from PAme) will drop to the Ground because people will have to empty their seasonal rune stash tab and will often exceed the 99 limit in their non-ladder.
This will be a good moment to do some serious crafting because Rals, Hels, PRubies etc will be very cheap.
